Just Leather SJ Vintage Indian Ranger/CHP style 42ish

Just got this delivered today from Ebay. It's a tad big in the shoulders and ptp for me. I like it to be more snug. I know if I do a wash and dry, it'll get closer, but I really don't need the jacket so I'd rather see if someone here can use it as is. It's got the zip in fuzzy liner, so I know if I shrink it, might mess that up. Perfect condition. Some wear on some of the seams here and there and couple little marks.

It's got a nice aggressive taper, boxier shoulders to narrow waist, especially with the side cinches pulled tight, it gives a sort of Indian Ranger sort of vibe or you can let out cinches and go for basic look. Has dull brass hardware from what I can tell. The owners of the JL San Jose shop confirmed for me it's about 30 years old and steerhide leather. Really nice and thick. Beautiful jacket but I basically just got a Branded Garment one almost exact same that fits me better. So was going to be a coin toss between the two.

Really sweet jacket! These fur linings are usually very warm.

So bummed it didn't fit. Usually something like this I'd toss in the wash, 30-40 minutes high dry and viola. But that will mess up the track fit for the liner and then it would be a shame. Almost like ruining a relic. The owner was so excited I emailed her about the jacket. I wonder if they would want it back LOL, put it in a display case. She said they changed the logo and this was the old one with the gold look.

Alright, lets move this sucker. I really want it to stay in the TFL family. It's so nice. Wish it fit me better. Maybe I should try it on again after Thanksgiving dinner

Hi, I'm interested in the jacket but don't have any experience with side cinches. I have a wide back and narrow waist so it sounds like this jacket would be good for me. Would you be able to tell me how much it tightens? I guess the bottom hem loosened vs tightened. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving.

ah man. Sorry, I just put it in the mail to send back to Ebayer who sold it to me. They let me get a refund since their sizing description was off. Just got stuck with some shipping costs as a loss which is pretty much what would have happened selling here at that price.

For general info, the laces tighten up or loosen up. You can probably get a good 3 inch range on your waist depending on how tight or loose. Cinches work the same way, but IMO laces are more effective when you need to pull in. The laces cover more area up and down and the material tucks nicely underneath. So when you go tight, it looks more natural on the jacket.

The cinches are good at pulling in that particular line, but if you need a lot, it starts to bunch and doesn't look as natural. The flip side is the cinches are more elegant I guess you could say. But the difference would be like tightening your belt vs. tightening more of a girdle type piece. The laces give you more surface area to pull in and achieve a more natural taper (again IMO)

I've got one other side lace jacket that I'm 50/50 keeping, but I'll let you know if I decide to sell. It's gorgeous but a little heavy for me. What's your chest size and waist size? I'm bidding on something a little more slim fitting this weekend. If I get that, I may offer this one up.

Ahh damn i really liked that one too. 43" chest, 33" waist. That's before I eat today though haha. Thanks for the info about clinches by the way! Really appreciate it. I'm a newbie to leather jackets.

Well, that's pretty much my measurements, so this jacket would have been too big on you as well up top. It was a sweet jacket. If it was even close to fitting, I would have kept it.

The other one I put photos of though, would be perfect however. I'll let you know if I get the other jacket and if that fits well, I'll probably sell off this other one. Give me like 7-10 days to figure it all out.

There's also another listing on here from someone else that is the side lace cross zip (aka CHP). Different style than the black/brass of these two, but check it out. You may like it. Otherwise, decent chance I may put up this other one for sale.
