One thing we haven't considered is that ti might be a shrine of some kind. The deserts of the west & South west. are renowned for their...umm...how can I put it....eccentrics ? It would make perfect sense if a local cult or sect (life or alien worshippers, for example :D) held secret ceremonies there at certain times of the year........as I've mentioned before, for me, the presence of water nearby is an important factor for the location of this thing & since water is the source of life & all that.....
Just thought I'd run it past you.;)
I'm ambivalent to the importance of the water to this site as I don't feel like it holds water year around or much of the time. In one of the articles, I read where this location is near the top of the immediate terrain & therefore not subject to flash flooding. If not a spring, I see the water as simply a collection of runoff from when it does rain.

As far as a ceremonial site where locals dance naked in the high desert, I don't see them going to considerable expense to erect something on public lands. This isn't exactly Bohemian Grove. Another thing that always gets overlooked by people without specific knowledge in the construction & structural industries is transportation & material handling on a job site. If it is true that it is 6 mi to the nearest road you are not going to transport 10 ft long panels of stainless steel on the roof rack of a Jeep to get it back in there. Maybe they hired the Navajo or the Ute's to drag them in by travois behind horses?

I like the idea of dancing naked but when you step back, the area does possess a sort of neolithic ceremonial sacred circular enclosure feel.....& away from prying eyes too so you could do anything you wanted there. :D
As for the presence of water, yes it may or may not have an importance but then why is the 'monolith' placed in that particular enclave & only a short distance from the water & with the apex of the triangle directed towards it. I would say & correct me if I'm wrong, that the monolith is collecting the energy from the water, then multiplying it as if passing through a prism & this irrespressable life force is radiated out through the forward facing base towards my ecstatic worshippers.
Likewise it may only fill up after rain but........in every pic there is water & the deep canal & sump formed at it's end, does suggest water collects there very often.
Anyway, my imaginary worshippers know more about it than I do & the best times to assemble & rave.

Aerial map comparisons of the lat/long one year apart from August 2015, when there was NO monolith compared to October 2016, when there WAS the monolith.

This means that the artist some insisted was the answer, John Harvey McCracken, could not be responsible because he died on April 8, 2011, five years before the October 2016 photo, which allegedly is the first factual evidence of the silver monolith’s appearance at the southern Utah site.

John Harvey McCracken (December 9, 1934 – April 8, 2011) was a minimalist artist, who lived and worked in Los Angeles, California; Santa Fe, New Mexico, and New York City, N. Y. In this photo, artist McCracken stands next to a solid black monolith from a series he did in 2007

David Surber, 33-year-old former U. S. Army infantry officer, saw the Utah monolith lat/long location in a Reddit post on Thanksgiving night and decided he would be the first there. Yahoo News reports he drove for 6 hours and arrived at the monolith when it was still dark in the early morning of Friday, November 27, 2020.

Yahoo! News interviewed David Surber by phone, who said: “I decided to go there first because I was drawn to the fact that this object (silver monolith) had been there for five years, hidden in nature.” And the true source of the tall, silver-colored monolith is still a mystery.

So far I have been unable to find anything coming from this phone interview on Yahoo News.

PS: Found the interview article but it doesn't really say much. Surber took this pic:

Article includes this quote:

"One person alone could not have done it so there is a group of people who have some knowledge of it somewhere," said Wendy Wischer of the University of Utah's School of Fine Art.

More detail about its construction:

"Three large sheets of what appears to be stainless steel were riveted together, with the inside left hollow. Whoever put it there used heavy-duty tools to cut into the bedrock and embed the structure."

Here's a good pic of the water & where it comes from. You can tell from the salt line it never amounts to much.

"SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The mysterious monolith that was found in a southern Utah desert has been removed by an “unknown party,” according to officials with the Bureau of Land Management." Riiiiight. Boy, that cover story runs deep. :p

These metal thieves stop at nothing nowadays...
Back when I worked in the "steel and alloys" industry even the street thieves eventually learned that stainless steels and other more "exotic" metals like titanium were worth more at the scrap yard than the more "simple" carbon steels.

That’s why not too few churches here have plastic downpipes up to ~10m height and higher instead of copper pipes meanwhile...:D

It's not the same one, just an internet copycat. :DIt is rather cruder & less care was given to it's installation...
Naw, them visual differences was caused by the atmosphere in that there time portal wormhole they used to transport it there. Clever bastids, them Rumanians.

Just another monolith that mysteriously disappeared in Grünten, Allgeau.
I'm not touchin' that one. :D

This has GOT to stop!!!

The famous phallic, um, “erection” in Germany has disappeared? I thought you were joking.

I am holding Turnip responsible for this audacious theft. (Shakes fist.)

What’s next? The Eiffel Tower will vanish overnight? It must be the Pink Panther again! Where is Inspector Clouseau?
