How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

if you like the B3 better ... I've read that some manufacturers also make these with a shorter fur. maybe it's worth looking for.
If I liked the B3, I would have shawn make one with a short fur.

Thanks Marc. I was talking to John already two or three days ago. THIS is my dream jacket but I'm not sure if 42 is too large and sleeves are too long 67cm (usually 64-65cm and my RMC size is 40 but I'm not sure if the thick shearling "compensates" this size difference). Moreover I'm not sure if it's too thick for our climate (same climate as you live in) and the fact that its used and price is still 850GBP which for sure is a really good and reasonable price for a RMC but on the other hand you get a new Aero (currently 4 months waiting time) for it or an almost new ELC....however the RMC looks better IMO (perhaps just better pictures). If I had a chance to compare the RMC, Aero, ELC B-3, ELC D-1 and Aero Coastal Command I suppose the decision would be easy. I also found a used B-3 RMC on Buyee in a probably similar, perhaps slightly better condition (4 days remaining, 600€ is current bid and I have to pay about 25% tax and duty). Tough decision and I don't want to wait too long.

Robbie, just a word on "climate": I do have a Kaff-Racer in a medium weight shearling that I break out now and then when the weather is cold and dry (as it was this past weekend).
Shearling really is never too warm in a sense that polyester or even wool will be (think about the sheep having to wear their shearlings all year round...

).
IMO it makes for great cold-protection but is also very forgiving in outside temps of up to 3-5 degrees cent (more layered over just a thin shirt...)

I'm also eyeing that real Mccoys B3. But like you said... The jacket is probably way too warm to be able to get some good wear out of it in our not so cold climate.

I'm actually still wearing my summer jackets and it's December!

Maybe I should get a car with cooled seats instead of heated seats. Or a reindeer sleigh, I'm sure a reindeer sleigh will look great with a B3

Personally i am unable to wear a B3 in 3-5c without turning into the sweatiest man alive.
To me it has to be -5c to be able to wear one coomfortably, even 0c is not cold enough.
I have also been looking at John's B-3 and a part of me really wants it, but i have two B-3 jackets already and living between London and Bruxelles i have worn them maybe 10 days in the past 5 years, it just never gets cold enough.

I admit that if you go for a version with thinner shearling it will be more wearable, this Golden Bear for exampel is thin enough that i could wear it most of winter:

But once you go full B-3 fleece thickness (i think the body is 3/4" thick fleece) you need seriously cold weather to have any use from it.
At least that has been my experience as someone who runs somewhat warm.

Just book yourself holidays in the North of Sweden or Norway in Winter, that will easily justify the shearling

Ken Calder from Aero has just got back to me regarding my Coastal Command inquiry and his response was "The sheepskin wait time is close to 12 weeks but we do have another of our leather machinist converted to sheepskin so hopefully it won’t get any longer."
Moreover I've contacted Theodoros earlier this week (no response, yet) asking him about price for following B3 modified Shearling jacket as this one is not as thick as a regular B3 according to Theodoros and therefore more suitable for our Central European climate:

You should consider the B2, it is very close to a B3 in shape and features, but the alpaca lining makes it much more wearable day to day. I can wear mine from freezing up to 10c pretty comfortably. The collar is even bigger than the B3, i really like it.

Thanks Carlos. This is basically a good idea (I like the LW B2) but the LW B2 is both by far beyond my budget (LW charges 1750$ plus shipping, duty+tax) and it reminds me too much of my brown LW Roadhouse. Moreover I simply do have enough leather jackets and a Shearling jacket would be a nice change.

I fully understand that one would not want to spend that kind of money on such an expensive jacket considering it's something you can't wear most of the year, i ment keep an eye out for a used one...
I got mine on eBay, it was completely unworn, no elbow creases, literaly looked like a brand new jacket, and i paid £525 for it. I have since seen a couple other ones for really good deals too.

Just got the price info from Theodoros (RRP 1670€). His B-3 is too expensive for me right now. That leaves me with Aero's Coastal Command and I still can't stop thinking of John Lever's RMC B-3....I finally decided not to buy the Eastman D-1 even if 375€ is a good deal but it's simply not my taste.

Stu just sent me the elastic strap that holds the collar back (it was missing), once it is a bit more broken in and i have lived with it a bit more i will take more pics and post a review of it.

There was someone on our forums who lived in south of France I believe, who had an Aero B3 made but with the shearling length of a B6. That might be the way to go.

The other thing I've seriously thought about and you might think I'm crazy, although I think some of you might think I'm genius, is just shaving down the shearling with some clippers and a guard. I mean they shave sheep all the time, right????

But I don't know how much cooler it's going to make the jacket if you take off 5mm, so I don't want to risk it.

There was also a Irving Battle of Britain on Aero pages few days back, but I think it sold. From what they told me, the shearling is thick like B3, but more curly, so in theory at least it might be able to be worn in more mild temperature. So in addition to thickness, you might have to consider the texture of it as well.
