I thought this place was supposed to advise and guide people on the quality, fit, and finish of leather jacket makers not to bash people for looking for information on a brand which some people feel. “was founded wrong”. Is the quality good, is their customer service good, and is their leather selection good. Ill say yes. I can care less how the brand itself came about.

I've ordered 10+ jacket from SB in the last 7 years and have always been very pleased with their friendly and excellent customer service - I've always talked to Debs (it's always a pleasure to talk to her). Quality+construction is definitely on par with Aero (I can't see any difference) and leather selection is quite good but I've never bought a jacket in their Blattwerk. Apart from their "History" I would definitely recommend to order at SB.

I bought a Blattwerk jacket off their outlet page for under 400 pounds if I remember correctly. I can't really wear it because of fit and pattern. But I was very impressed with the leather. I ordered a custom Mahogany Blattwerk jacket right away and waited forever for it because the leather was out of stock. Had to change my order because the wait got too long. Guys with Mahogany Blattwerk leather you are lucky!
Blattwerk is naked leather. About 3oz thick. It feels matte when new, but shines itself as you rub the leather. Natural grains through out. This is one of the best veg tan horsehide out there. Too bad I cannot get the one I wanted, for now.
Blattwerk supplies aniline leather for Porsche special vehicle division. For those who are willing to drop 10k plus for leather upgrades on their bucket seats. You end up getting that natural vintage look in 2021 for crazy money. It's very expensive but it's good stuff.
Out of all the custom jacket makers, Simmonsbilt offers the most interesting leather selection. That's their thing. They make a lot of mistakes. I have two jackets that's suppose to be in production now. One I waited for over a very very long time (change from blattwerk to clayton...etc.), and one in the new Elg leather they got. I put up with a lot for good leather.
Anyone looking at SB for jacket, I would suggest to get the measurement of the jacket size you are looking at, shoulder, P2P, Hem, back, and sleeves dimensions. And then ask for any customization after that. And make sure all this is on their production sheet which you will get a copy of. Very important. This is where a lot of mistakes happen with SB. Take your time to read and read again through the production sheet! SB offers really good value for the leather selection they have (when they are in stock). And their Moira Mac is probably the best thick leather machinist, no skiving, no skipping threads, very underrated. I have not done this but it would not hurt to ask for QC photos before they ship out the jacket. Both Fivestar and Johnson sends me photos before they send the jacket out. We should ask all makers to do this. It can save on the potential return shipping and the extra work means everyone is happy. Win win. All the maker needs to do is take the extra 5 minutes to do the measure and get a cheap table tripod for the camera photo.

That is actually a very good idea. Particularly on a jacket where measurements such as P2P and sleeve and body length have been agreed on. I’m sure some jacket makers would roll their eyes at this suggestion but it benefits them as well because it catches the problem before it leaves their door.

It just saves everyone money. If the customer complains and the maker don't do anything, they lose a customer and damage their brand. If the maker sends out a return label, they lose the return shipping, and customer ends up with longer wait. Five minutes to take some measuring photos, that's all it takes.
the leather looks great, the sizing and proportion of the collar & lapel is a bit miss, big neckhole yet small collar, or is it meant to be a stand collar blazer?
