Portis New Slant tissue weight in a very nice brown/taupe colour. Size 56 (American 7) with the bound brim at a good 6,5cm and the crown 10cm at the front pinch. I tried to discover what the "new slant" on this hat would be. It came creased with a strong rake front to back, which was not my cup of tea. It took it to open crown and steamed to to see where it would go and this is where I ended up. Not much of a slant to be seen, but a lovely hat anyway. It has lost its liner (there are some glue marks inside under the sweat). The ribbon is what makes the hat stand out.
Apparently a tissue weighs 100 grams (who knew?).

Mallory cravanette bowler in a size 7 1/8 (57), unlined, with the brim at 5cm and the crown at approx. 12cm. It weighs 131 grams. Thanks Randy!

I stick with my assessment of green. Greens are difficult to combine with other colours. "Blue and green should never be seen" isn't a saying for nothing. We have a similar saying in Dutch, but it mentions red as the colour not be combined with green. Greens only seem to do well with other greens. So unless you want to be a forester or a leprechaun they are to be avoided

I am attaching the brand name in hope you smart people can tell me. It says it is a “Mallory knockabout”. I have always seen fedora style hats with an edge sewn on them, this does not have one. Just trying to learn.

Thanks Bob, I totally forgot to look behind the sweatband. Lo and behold I found several tags. A tag that was stalled to the band gave a date of June 59. So I guess that settles that as far as the date goes. Thank you all for the tips and knowledge.

I had a Mode Edge Fifteen some time back that I really liked but it was too small and had to be moved on to another Lounger. This is a very nice Twenty, very clean felt that I would call "crushable", or perhaps plush would be a better term. It is a mid-weight hat but very soft - comparable to my Canadian Stetson Imperial - and dents easily wherever my fingers happen to land when I pick it up. A 2 3/4 Mode Edge brim and a 1 3/4 black ribbon with wind trolley and keyhole size tag. Of all the felts I have seen and handled, this grey has enough blue to keep the blue hue in low light and direct sun. This is the color I think of when someone says, "Steel" - a nice middle grey/blue.
