Johnson Leather Jacket

This is a great build!
As @ton312 said, a good all-around leather jacket that has style but isn't "trying too hard" is difficult to accomplish. You nailed it!
The collar is perfect! To shape it, run hot water on the underside (under the fawcet). Keep the rest of the jacket dry. You'll feel when the leather "relaxes." remove from the water, pat dry, put it on and shape it. Lay it on the floor to dry shaping every once-in-a-while.

THanks @handymike. It really helps when we see a lot of great looking jackets here so there were plenty of inspirations to this build. All the credit goes eto JL making this jacket. It really looks like a do everything jacket with so I am super happy with the outcome.

Alright! the collar shaping tip seems like fairly straightforward that even I could do. I'll make sure to try that! Hopefully I can get it close to the Pringle mustache shape that we see on those old bates jackets. Thanks again

I love it. It’s making me pull out my M-120. Great lining!
Thanks man! Go for it, show some love to the JL crew. The lining really is different, glad I picked something else than a solid color that would have made the jacket too monotonous. Thanks again

Awesome jacket Jin. I think the fit is what puts this jacket on another level. I thought the first pics of the jacket itself were nice. I said "that is a nice jacket." After I scrolled down and saw the fit pics I said "that is on another level." I am really digging that sheene treatment. I think that was a great call. I also noticed you have the discontinued Golden Gate Bridge label, excellent call. Thanks for the great review and pics. I am looking forward to updates. Killed it!

Thanks man @roadking04 . I totally get what you mean as I initially felt that way too when I first saw that jacket compared to when I put it on and looked at the mirror. The sheen treatment accentuates the grain and makes it more water repellent so I really like that touch.

The JL label with the Golden Gate Bridge logo is there it's just camouflaged really well with the lining. I wanted that look that is why I had JL put the size label and made in USA flag sewn inside the interior pocket because they would have stood out.

You are welcome and will wear this regularly for people to see how the sheene and HH fairs over time. Thanks again

@Ayeteael thanks man, I really appreciate it. I'm planning to pair this with the shinki teacore Chelsea and the olive badalassi with black overdye monkey boot!

This post is making me tempted to go visit Johnson Leathers, especially since their store isn't too far from me either. How long was the process from ordering until finished?

That's a great looking jacket, congrats! This is a perfect collar for a 'Pringle mustache shape' :)
Imo length is perfect. Any longer would have made it look 'conservative'.

Awesome man! I definitely saw your jacket while I was there for my fitting because I remember that Japanese quilt liner. It's a great looking jacket.

So glad the "German stuff" finally has a name, no joke guys this stuff is seriously awesome, perfect for an everyday jacket.

Love the liner choice too, I go out of my way to get fun liners for my jackets because really it just gives it that bespoke pop that you can't get buying of the rack, and I love that they let you bring whatever you want too.

Spot on fit man, enjoy it in good health.

Thanks man, I really went for the short jacket look and it worked well. The fields leather black aniline jacket will be like a brother to this jacket so I'm excited for that too. Yes, I'm excited to try that, I've been seeing those old bates collars and that always seemed a fun collar to have.

There you have it, a perfect day to day jacket! And the liner is really stunning! Congrats!!!
Yes, love that it's easy to wear to work or getting grocerys without much fuss. Love how Japanese the liner is, it's definitely something I'll want to have in a different design/color for the future. Thanks

That's great that you saw it up close. It's really nice to look at but even better to wear. I don't know how to pronounce it but definitely nice to have a name to refer too. Yes, it's perfect for us in the Bay. Hope they offer it in other colors too.

I like the Hawaiian one you have on that brown naked cow that you have. What did you get for the next order? And when will you pick it up?

Thank you, I will I've been wearing it daily since I got it Saturday.

I have a feeling Alan will get a few calls asking for the "Jin jacket"! Down to the lining, please...:)
I hope they get lots of business coming their way. I'd be so happy for them and if someone does get a jacket similar to mine then that's just cool and an honor.

Well done Jin -- looks great!
Thank you, much appreciated @Superfluous. All thanks to the good folks over at Johnson Leathers

As has already been said, I will reiterate how beautifully clean of a design this jacket is. Amazing materials, pattern, design, and fit. Congrats! I really have to get on the Johnson Leathers train, I just wish they had a site up and running that I could peruse to get style and design choices.

Thank you kindly for your kind words. Definitely my best jacket for now. most of their designs are on instagram, just DM them and ask. They will send you photos if you request it and If you have a jacket/pattern in mind that they don't have then they will make it for you and get you a fit jacket too to help finalize the measurements. My jacket is a one off and I just requested details/designs that I like and had them piece it together for me and I'm so happy it turned out great.
There are more JL jackets ordered by our members here recently; like a perfecto style jacket and a car coat too so we will see more of their work soon.

Visiting the store, touching and wearing different types of leather will be worth it. Plus it will be easier for them to measure you to help get to the desired fit. If you don't fancy the drive then have them make you a fit jacket and they will ship it to you. It depends on how busy they are with orders but most of the time it is 6-8 weeks. Good luck, hope to have another local get in with JL.

Fantastic jacket. I have seen some very interesting jackets on here from Johnson Leathers utilizing some intriguing leathers. Does JL serve a certain niche in the market? I would like to have a custom, everyday jacket made. Desire something truly out of the norm, but not over the top, and am wondering if JL is one of the better options in the US.
