Breaking in this beast! Did my proprietary break in process. Working with damon at JL to figure out what horween black leather to use for its identical twin. overdye, tumbled overdye, or Milan which is veg tan and a little softer and lighter at 3 oz vs cxl at 3.5 oz. Any suggestions? Leaning toward milan. These two will be the only leather ponies in the stable at the moment. I am thinking a little lighter and softer should be great for riding in the spring. Make up should be end of jan / early feb. anyone have the milan? I think SB uses it

The tumbled overdye sounds cool! I’m somewhat surprised they offer it as the overdye sort of self tumbles very quickly with wear. The grain on this guy is starting to go bonkers with just a few days of wear. I also think of it as brown though, not black.

That looks awesome man! The tumbled i am thinking they did some tumbling of their regular overdye i dont think it came that way from horween but not 100 percent sure. They just finished a half belt in that tumbled overdye. Probably someone on fdl. Damon was going to send me some pics of it

I really fell in love with the regular overdye during my last visit to JL. The black was very matte and the warmth of the brown shined through beautifully. The whole jacket looked burnished. When I get all of my ducks in a row that will be the leather I select for my next jacket.

Wowzers! Heck of a statement, bravo

Its the truth my man. Perfect for on the bike, with that MC vibe I dig. But somehow still formal enough (with all the cool Trojan design features) to be worn in more formal settings. I’ve worn it with slacks and a dress shirt to dinners, parties, etc. Maybe I’m crazy but it works for me.

PS, how was the vacation with the wife? Is she happy happy? And you kept the CHP right?!? Lol.

Are these guys still around? I love the East-west styles and other then electric leather studio do t know of anyone doing anything like this.
Romulus moved to Pennsylvania and stopped making jackets AFAIK. All he seems to do is post rants about the President and photos of his kids recently. I’m bummed that my appreciation of his style and his time in LA didn’t overlap more.

I reached out to romulus a few months back and he had this one in my size. He made all the east west jackets for metallica and jack white. Well made if he has any more

My new to me Aero A-1, formerly the brainchild of @dudewuttheheck and made by Greg Field when he was still with Aero.

Badalassi tobacco cowhide and olive knits and thread. I always loved Aero’s A-1 design even more so than the more accurate reproductions on the market today, so I’m pretty pleased with this so far to handle it in person. The leather is stunning and it’s such a good match for the olive knits and thread. It’s a bit squeaky, thinner than I had anticipated it would be (in a good way), and has beautiful depth to it. It doesn’t drape tremendously yet, but I imagine this will improve with time and wear as this jacket is virtually brand new.

This is a size 40 tag, but I’m a 42 normally. I do like the buttoned up fit better and plan to wear it like that mostly, but in time I think it will drape better once really broken in.

Overall, I think my larger shoulders and height make this fit work better for me than @dudewuttheheck and I am glad it eventually traveled down the line and ended up in my hands. Special thanks to @huy tran for the sale.
