holy cow, already way too many pages for my patience...but here's my comment: this is UNCANNY, in all meaning of the word. I just finished reading the Lou Reed A Life bio book, and have been browsing Getty images, saw an early 80s photo of him wearing a leather jacket, straight zip, some kind of highwayman style, with a non-shirt cuff, nothing special, slightly spread collar (not as slim as the Premier HWM and not as full as the standard Aero collar), it has a horizontal left chest pocket with a tear drop shaped Talon (I think), and two slant hand warmers, musculine shoulder/armhole contour and seems to be a bulky/boxy cut. I was fascinated, and was checking out Aero's HWM. Then I wanted to post a thread about the shoulder width of the Premier HWM as it seems narrow. Then I saw your thread. Upon opening, boom, here is the Lou Reed jacket!!@!@!$#$@#$%@!!

I also have a Premier HWM on order and I modified the shoulder length of the size 36 jacket to a 17.5" as the stock measurement was too small (size 36 is 16.5" and size 38 is 17").

Man, hard to argue with that picture that you shared, it really is uncanny.
I do see what you meant, that's just cool to know that such a cool guy wore something similar to my custom jacket. Thank you

On the Aero premier HWM, yea, the stock size 42 has a shoulder of 17.5?! (while the chest is 22.5) Not even my Euro fit Belstaff has a shoulder as narrow as that. I wonder if anyone who owns one can comment here.

I think North Star has a black cxl PHWM, don't know the size. @handymike wears a 36 I believe. @ton312 used to have one too then he moved it on. @Nykwil has a 42 in BB Vicenza. Not sure who else owns one.

My PHWM was about 19” across in the shoulder, 23.5” pit. Felt really tight though. More so even than jackets with smaller numbers in those spots. Looking back the fit wasn’t bad. It was a bit too trim in the arms and shoulders but the main thing for me was the length. It was simply too long for the style I think. Size 44”:

My PHWYMN is a 38 with 17 1/4” shoulders. I just wish it were a bit longer in the front. It definitely isn’t made for someone with Ton’s arms. They are slim! I don’t work out and I have a tough time bending my elbows if I have a layer underneath.

I probably will fit in the size 38 in the chest/shoulder but will be loose on the waist/bottom sweep. I went with the size 36 with 17.5" shoulders, hope the chest to chest is closer to 20" so it's not too tight on me.

So not a lot of front drop in the jacket huh

Nope, It has around 1.5 inches, but I would prefer another inch. The jacket sits back on your body somewhat like the OG Highwayman, another inch would make up the difference IMHO.

The midnight blue cxl is really cool. Do you like it more than the cordovan or brown cxl? Hope to see how that bad boy soon
Cordo and that batch of Midnight are my fav for depth of color/ leather hallucinations. I’m not sure if the current batch has the same chops. I’ll just have to hope so....I haven’t seen it!

Got it, I've noticed the front drop really makes a difference how the jacket wears. For my next JL project I'll add 0.5 inch to the back length and add more front of a front drop too. I've always liked how the HWM looks, I just hope it will look good on me too.

I think I get what you mean, the midnight cxl looks green/black/blue/eggplant on my tablet screen or maybe I just need a new ipad lol. Man, I'm sure this time it will be even better than the last batch you had. Can't wait to see what they give you.

I received my Wranglers yesterday, I had to go up one size from my usual Levis 505 waist. Turns out that they measure exactly the same as 505s! Well built jeans for $19. I just find it interesting that they get so much play as “higher rise/ vintage cut” when there are others out there. I get 505s at Ross And Marshalls for $19 too.

My guess is just because the 13MWZ is pretty much their flagship cut, and has been for some time. If they have changed the cut, the alterations have been very minor, so it pretty much is a vintage cut. Levi's has 511, 501, 502, etc. Of course, Wrangler has other models that they sell at Walmart, Target, other places, but I've always seen their 13MWZ around here the most.

Apparently they don't have the brown Milan in stock but they're contacting Horween about it, and might be willing to stock if if they get enough requests.;) Although if they can't get a hold of some, I will consider a skived down burgundy CXL. This time I'm going for something simple, half belt with back gussets.

Hasn’t 505 been a long standing Levis model? At least from the early 70s on...

Yeah, they have. 13MWZs have been around since the 50s, but they are both "vintage cuts". It's more that Wrangler has primarily focused on their cowboy cut / 13MWZ fit, whereas Levi's has a lot of different fits that have varying levels of popularity. Personally I was always more familiar with their 501 / 511 fits, and have associated them with low rise cuts. (The 501 is supposed to be high rise, I think, but its always fit weird when I've tried the on).

501s are described as a regular mid-rise and I think it’s right, that’s how they feel to me.

There is a 1967 505 model that LVC make so I suppose they have been around at least since then.
