Did you get the deerskin yet? Just got word my G1 arrives today.

I did receive it. The deerskin is miles ahead of the seal goatskin imho. Soft hand, drapes well, lovely grain. It's gorgeous and I'm getting one myself lol

How does it compare weight wise?

My new seal goat G1 is much heavier than my other one. Literally .6lbs heavier. A lot nicer feel also, but I have something in mind for the deerskin...that is if Shawn wants to do it or not. Waiting to hear from him.

Can't compare with my goatskin jacket as the deerskin jacket is tiny but definitely feels lighter.

Okay, that's interesting to know. I hope you get the green light for your project. The deerskin is worth it. I have fit pics in the 5* thread so I don't hijack your thread

Guys, does anyone have experience with the Simmons Bilt trucker jacket? Their 42 seems to be considerably slimmer-fitting than the Aero version. For instance, measurement-to-measurement between a size 42 Aero Type III I’m looking at and a size 42 Simmons Bilt Trucker I’m also considering...

Pit-to-Pit:
Aero 22.5”
Simmons Bilt 21.5”

Shoulders:
Aero 19.25”
Simmons Bilt 17.25”

Back length:
Aero 24.5”
Simmons Bilt 26.25”

Sleeve length:
Aero 25.75”
Simmons Bilt 26”

Just looking for a fit comparison if anyone can provide one, or any fit experience with the Simmons Bilt Trucker... I’m aware of the issues between the two companies, and not looking to start any bad vibes with that old discussion. After all, the Type III/Trucker style is about as public property as a design gets, ha ha... Everybody makes one.

I don’t, sorry. What I can tell you is don’t really look at tagged sizes. They’re all over the place. Just look at measurements. I am a pretty solid size 40 in most “off the rack” sizes. My Aero trucker is a 38, my premier highwayman is a 42, both have the same shoulder size.
I think it’s pretty common in the Aero to size down in the trucker. Don’t have any experience with Simmons Built.

Holly finally got back to me regarding the stitching.
Even though we discussed it in email and she acknowledged that she made a mistake and left my request off the final spec sheet, I approved the final spec sheet without it listed, so she told me basically that there was nothing they could or would do about it.
I’m sorry to hear that Sean, that is piss poor customer service in my mind.

Well shit.

You guys are a terrible influence. When I joined this forum I thought this was an online support group, but as I told someone previously ...this forum is like a bunch of alcoholics having an AA meeting at a bar.

Just grabbed this from the TB stock page:

Been wearing this PHWM a month and a half now...and it still stands up!
Like it more and more every day.
Only area I don’t like is the collar. Feels a bit small and narrow. I’m always bending it and trying to shape it so it doesn’t pinch down in the sides and wear on the back of my neck, other than that it’s great. Becoming my go to. Just wish Aero had made the collar just a bit wider. Is this pretty common with these? (Saw someone else complaining about the neck in theirs being to small/tight)
Should I expect it to get better with wear?

There is always the Hot water treatment for the collars to shape it to your neck and position the collar tips better.

Sorry for the late answer, but I just read your post today.
I have both an Aero and an SB.
IMO the Aero is a perfect pattern, one of their best achievements. I have a size 40 which fits perfectly in the ptp, shoulders and waist. It would have been even better with an extra inch in the sleeves, but a size 42 would have been much too big.
I can't recommend it enough.
About the SB, I have to point out it was the result of a collaboration with 3sixteen, so I don't know if the pattern is the same as on their regular truckers. Anyway, mine was a size 42, it fit great in the shoulders and sleeve length, but it was way too long, and too wide at the hem. I had it trimmed and shortened by 2" in length. Now it fits good, and the Horween lux is fantastic.

The Type III that Aero make was worked up by Ken and brought into the line markedly after the infamous Lauder departure, so the SB one isn't in danger of being one of the half-inched patterns. The longer sleeve and body lengths suggest theirs is a somewhat modernised version, so if they've done this as a collab with a denim house the most likely answer is that the denim people wanted to sell a leather version and outsourced production of their pattern to SB. I've noticed that a lot of the premium denim brands around these days seem to be more "vintage inspired" than repro, usually meaning the fit of a jacket will be neater in the body, with a longer length overall to match against the sub-waist level top of the jeans they're worn with.

Thanks for the great info! I actually ended up with this. The Aero is very cool too!

Just got this from the Aero sale. SHOCKED!
Anyone who says Aero pattern sucks for mobility, you have not worn this. I have not worn this till now. WHY!!!
Coincidentally, it has the DNA of the awesome mobility jackets from US brands I got. The back shoulder measures bigger than the front shoulder measures.

Not sure if this is a Levis pattern or Aero pattern. But it's GOOD. Wish there were more like this from Aero.

Now the negatives, or not what I expected:
The Troy Mills blanket lining is NOT thick. My Strome lining feels more robust (tighter weave). I can't see the Troy Mills lining being a premium except for historical accuracy.
This blacken brown vicenza is on the thinner side, 2.5oz. But this was on the sale page for a steal and not custom. For custom I've always asked for thickest and it always turned out that way.

I actually looked at this jacket from Aero for a long time, and always picked other styles over this because I didn't think it was worth the custom price. And every time one shows up on the sale page it doesn't come with much discount either for me to pull the trigger. Finally!

Wow, this is what perfection looks like, congrats. What makes it cool are those droopy shoulders, which are hard to pull off on truckers because they are usually accompanied by 80s/90s style generous upper sleeves with low armholes (and handwarmer pockets which I hate on a type 3 ). Yours looks great. Well done Aero (or Levi's).

80s / 90s droopy shoulder wide sleeve low armhole Levi's :
