I'd love to see some of your work, btw. By chance, you dont know if any felt out there is named Vancouver Grey? A grey that has the subtlest undertone of sea green and that warm pacific light as diffused thru the clouds? I see that Gannon has something close to that in the bottom right corner...

That might be granite gray; it’s a standard Winchester felt color. There is a felt color thread if you want to see what’s out there.

My experience of Vancouver grey is just grey....no subtle greens, blues or any colour...just grey from Nov thru March. It does get dreary but I console myself that the risk of being found dead frozen in a snow bank is nil and I dont fear drowning near as much.

Greetings all,
Recently rejoined. I was a member years ago (pretty sure there was a previous site).

I have a whopping three hats! Had four but my new dog turned my favorite into confetti.

I have two Fed IV's (brown and carbon grey) -- purchased from Hats Direct about 8 years ago -- plus a Stockman (santone) reworked to a center crease that I've had for many, many years. My destroyed cap was a weekender/adventurer in navy blue.

I like hats with minimal taper so with Akubras remaining lineup, it looks like it's just the Fed and Campdraft. Pity neither are available in blue.

Hello all!

I joined last week now that I have finally been able to buy a few hats for my 8 1/4 (65cm) noggin that actually fit and look good.

I decided to join to learn from the seasoned community here about sources of hats, various styles that may look good on me, and how to style my entire outfit to develop a look that won’t embarrass my wife.

I don’t think I have much to offer yet, but I may have some stray information that can help others in the community.

I’m grateful to be here and have already received a kind reception from several members already.

Yes, JFK did infact prefer to go hatless. The definitive answer to the question of JFK's like or dislike of hats just might be Neil Steinberg's 2004 book titled, Hatless Jack. Steinberg writes hat manufacturing had been in decline since 1903 & therefore JFK was not responsible, that JFK did despise wearing hats, & that during the inaugural parade he only wore the Top Hat long enough to tip it in honor to his father as the parade passed.

Hello to those who also love hats! This website is a great find. I have lots of questions about hat care, cleaning, shaping and so forth... Most of my questions are already answered here and I'm enjoying snooping around to see what others are doing. There is so much to learn about hats! As a hobby, hats can be a very deep rabbit hole!
I am bald on top and get cold in the winter and need protection in the summer. Baseball hats are very useful, but I prefer the more interesting fedoras in wool and straw. I just got a nice new stiff Navy Pork Pie and am stretching it to fit a little better. I think hats are more fun than people realize and are great topper to a person's unique look. I have a project hat that will be my next post. I'm looking forward to hearing from people in the know about

New to the hat forum, outside lurker in FL in general. Love hats. Run the gamut from my Open Road, Irish or English flat caps, 50's classics, and even a couple of Shriner fezzes for my tiki bar. Mostly get mine thrifting. Here's a new fave for this winter by Kevin McAndrew in beaver with a funky feather. It's probably misshapen but I'm enjoying it and it's comfy fuzziness.
