has anybody completed a full transction as seller on ebay these days, after their new "managed payment" policy and the option to bypass paypal? i (had to) sign up and although i left paypal as one option, my just sold item was paid though i don't see the money anywhere. I think it's still in "processing" but ebay is already asking me to ship, i normally wouldn't ship until i know the money is there.

Ebay will transfer the money to your bank account on file either daily or weekly, depending on your preferences. I can't say that I like the new system all that much, and it doesn't seem to save much money if any on transaction fees. Just ebay is now eating PayPal's lunch.

eBay long ago became too much trouble for me to use as a seller. But I do buy a lot on eBay.

I've been trying to get my payout for nearly three weeks. I spoke to my bank today and I think the problem is that eBay will only pay to checking accounts and mine is a savings account. Super frustrating.
Payout sucks ass. It fails all the time, for no reason other than their crappy software. eBay is garbage for sellers. It’s a shame because I play on both sides of the fence but after God knows how many eBay sales...I’m less and less inclined to use it for anything other than purchases. I’d say in the last 5 years or so eBay is really coming apart at the seams for both buyers and sellers.

About 2 to 3 days after selling, the money is deposited into my checking.
No PayPal middle man
Still some fees, but none to PayPal and no holding ebay fees and then taking a huge total once a month.

I just updated my account details to the eBay managed payout yesterday. I made my first sale today since the change. My payout is on hold until their 48 hour review period is over, which I assume is to verify my identity. I’m not sure what to make out of the new system yet. Seems a better bet to cut out the middle man, but time will tell. I agree with others that eBay feels a bit unsafe on the sellers side, as I have been burned more than once by eBay siding with a buyer, when I had upheld my end in every way possible. I once sold a new triumph gas tank, watched the tracking take it to my buyers door, and 2 months later find a case opened against me for item not received. This was of course outside of USPS insurance protection period, and I was out $550, with no avenue to contest it. Again, I sold the stock stereo head unit from my corvette, buyer confirmed that it worked fine, but that wasn’t the problem in his car’s system. He opened a case for the refund, eBay gave it to him, and I never received the stereo back. eBay and PayPal said “too bad” in not so many words. That year I had over 20k in sales, and eBay sides with a buyer who had 2 feedbacks. I am definitely concerned with selling high ticket items on eBay, although I have had smooth experiences in the past. I know that I’d hate to chew off on losing a $3000+ guitar through a mostly automated, and buyer biased platform like eBay.

Ebay certainly sides with buyers more than sellers. It’s a great place to buy with minimal worries. As a seller it’s a bit more risky, but still manageable.
The new eBay managed payments takes a bit of getting used to, but it’s working well for me. There hasn’t been any problems, and I still don’t get prompted to ship until after the buyer pays. I do like some other sites where the buyer is automatically and instantly billed for purchases, but eBay has the largest market and I get the best prices there as a seller.

I have a feeling there was an anti-trust concern. eBay sold off paypal in 2015, but it stayed as integrated from pov of the buyer until recently, it seems. I've not tried selling anything on eBay yet.
I used to sell a few bits on ebay. Became more reluctant to do so when they moved from charging for the auction to gouging the final price. If it's as much hassle as it sounds now, it's not really worth it for me as somebody not in business. Course, I'm conforming to exactly what their aim has been for a number of years now in quitting selling on there, but I'm also buying much less on Ebay since it changed. It's often as cheap or cheaper to buy from Amazon. eBay did need to protect the buyer better, but always siding with the customer isn't so great if you're not a business selling high volumes of low-value units... I have a couple of grands' worth of guitars and amps to sell from my collection, stuff I've outgrown and it's time to move on so I can replace it with something else I like. I think I'm going to go with Reverb for that rather than eBay.
I sell on ebay Germany. Occasionally, that is. Which isn't the best place for selling vintage or repro as it gets less traffic than ebay UK or U.S.
I haven't stumbled on what you're describing here, though. I sold a lot of stuff in the past 6 months. Only got regular PayPal payments the way I'm used to (PayPal is the only payment option that I offer).
Is this 'new managed payment/ no middleman' option visible when you set up your listing? You know, where you choose the payment options?

I spoke to an eBay rep today about my three week struggle to get a payout. I have to open a checking account. They won't deposit to my savings account or PayPal. I want to get the money they owe me out and that will probably be he last time I ever sell anything there.
First, maybe it's still within 48 hrs, because I still am not seeing the payment coming into my checking account (I entered my checking thank god).
Now, on my account page, it does appear I still have paypal as the secondary automatic option but it looks like my "managed payment into my checking" has been the default option. The paypal still sitting there just for show i don't think it has any purpose anymore, certainly no buyer can opt for it.
It's good to know somebody actually got to speak to a human ebay customer service, their "call back" function seems flooded and so i can only wait.

I've spoken to them twice on my issue. Call back took a couple of hours, buy the eBay customer service agents were ok. When I get time, I'll call my bank t see if I can open a checking account just so I can get my $700ish payout and then me done with eBay selling.

Sounds like this payment option might be available on ebay.com only, so far. There is no mention of it on ebay Germany, I just checked.
We only have direct bank transfer as an option (which isn't very popular except among people who want to avoid PayPal - that's because the transaction is not covered by the eBay buyer's or seller's protection, it's fully manual).
eBay call-back service was very helpful the one time I used it.

The most frustrating thing is that I can’t even use the funds to buy something. $700 in limbo until I go through the hassle of opening a checking account at the bank for this sole purpose.
I had a similar issue, the funds showed that the transfer "failed" and they simply disappeared from my pending payouts list. The only evidence the money was ever there at all was in my completed listings. It took a few days for the transfer to complete and I called to find out why...they just said there was a software problem. It's happened twice. More than enough for me to lose any confidence in what they are doing. I can only imagine the mountain of grief they've created for themselves and sellers alike.
