Yes I saw that j106 with a removable collar video a while back as well. It's probably one of those mods that can only done for some not for the masses. It makes the jacket cooler for sure. Hope you get your midnight cxl soon, they just started production on my tumbled cordovan hwm
21 weeks as of tomorrow. Yeah I’m ready for it. Had some adventures along the way but I’m sick of appetizers. It’s dinner time.

At one point they did offer it. I had a j106 with a snap on from Aero. I think ultimately Ken didn’t care for how they turned out? Not sure but it would be a great option to have.

When I was ordering my STF Bootlegger, Ken was alright with a mouton collar, but only a non-removable one. Suit me just fine, as I have enough "warmer weather" jackets to choose from.

Grey cow , been awhile not wearing it, but it feels very soft now i can wear it fully zipped and feel comfy in it like a thick sweater... either my sense is altered by a harder jacket I daily wear these days or the leather gets softer in 5 years on hanger pulled by its own weight and air and light uv whatever age it. Or combination of both.

My Thedi has a removable mouton but I don't think I've worn the jacket even once without the mouton. It just looks so much cooler with the mouton in place :)

Mouton collar seems to be a must for some cross zips! How do you care for it when it gets wet?

Maybe Ken sees a removable collar as difficult to do properly. The collar on my Vanson Model E has eight snaps holding on it. I guess if the jacket got wet the collar would dry more slowly than the leather and wouldn't fit properly over time, maybe.

Most Schott Perfectos can fit mouton collar by default - I now actually have a jacket with one, massive-thanks to @Carlos840 - so I can't imagine it being such a big deal. Langlitz, too. LW can do it without much issue, as well.
Aero wouldn't do it even back then when I was ordering my first jacket. No big deal but it'd make a pretty cool addition to any jacket. Permanent furry collar sounds like more trouble than worth. I imagine it renders a jacket less wearable during warmer weather.
