Panos, Thank you! Yes I got hit with a number of hats. I have two other Echter Borsalinos from the same time period (also sold plus some interesting Velours. I am waiting for better lighting to take photos of the B.B. "Ultima" Velour. I hope the Mayser "Talpa" arrives soon.

J. Hückel´s Söhne "Jota" "Seal Velour", 56 cm, possibly late 1930s. This is the 2nd hat from my recent 9 hat find. The Velour is really fantastic (color, finish, hand) and very pliable. The sweatband is textured and is very soft. The tip patch is in mint condition and the hat appears to have been seldom worn. This hat was sold by Julius Reiter Eger / Cheb Czechoslovakia (prior to WWI Austria Hungary).

I don't know how many times this has been said/written here in the thread,
but I still have to say it again: It's incredible, Steve, what felt treasures
you keep uncovering! Where on earth do you dig up all these fantastic hats!?

This Hückel is great and in remarkable condition - as always!
I really love the colour on that one and it is very interesting
to see a nice crown instead of the awesome but common liners.
Let them comming, Steve!

I have a supplementary question about the Jota:
Is the crown patch and the gray sweat without gold print a characteristic of a lower price category?
Or is it already due to the "austerity measures" of the late 30s/early 40s?
But Steve, you actually say that the quality of the felt and also the leather is top!?

I associate the simple (only patch, no gold) and gray (this sweat perhaps
in coordination with the felt color?) first with saving - for whatever reason.
Do we or do you actually have any clues for the prices / categories at Hückel
or other German-Austrian manufacturers?

Matt, Thanks! I was lucky to make this find. I don't think the photos captured the color correctly. The side view photo (first photo) is probably the closest. A similar JHS "Jota" "Seal Velour" from the find is marked 56 cm but actually fits. I will post photos shortly.

Matt, I haven't been able to find a JHS catalog. I have asked the Nový Jičín Museum but I never got an answer. I have to go there for a few weeks and see what I can find. I will also continue to look on my own. My guess is you have lower price point hats for the domestic markets. Also impact from shortage of materials due to war preparations. The non reed sweatband in this case is less wide but actually is very soft and light weight. I will have to measure the weight of the hat but it feels light weight in hand. I don't see any difference in the Velour and Ribbon quality.

Echter Borsalino "Qualità Superiore" "Caffè" "--" "Dragosti", FP 5, possibly late 1930s. This is the 3rd hat of a 9 hat find. The smooth coffee colored Felt is of a medium weight and easily dry creases. Medium width Ribbon with a sporty Bow design. The condition is excellent and it still has the Eulan paper tag. This hat was most likely sold in Eger / Cheb Czechoslovakia (prior to WWI Austria Hungary).

Anton Peschel Neutitschein, Peschel "Kristall", 57 cm possibly late 1930s early 1940s. This is the 4th hat from a 9 hat find. I believe this is the only Smooth Finish APN Hat I have encountered. It fits more like a 58 cm so happy about that. The Medium Gray Felt is of a lighter weight and easy dry creases. The Form and Dimensions are similar to Echter Borsalinos. Mid Ribbon with an interesting Bow design.

A recent arrival (sadly not as numerous as Steve's amazing haul!). A Brüder Böhm Cromwell for the French Market. I'm tentatively guessing early 40s.

Nice proportions, mid ribbon, felt is wonderfully pliable, dense but thin. Glad to finally find a Böhm in my size.

As you can see, the sweats been attacked by critters, but luckily they seemed to have ignored the felt itself!

Wayne, Super find! My guess is that it's mid to latter 1930s. The B.B. Novy Jicin / Neutitschein factory was taken over by JHS in 1938.
