We still have a morning newspaper delivered, rather fortunate to have that luxury these days, especially as we live somewhere that's sparsely populated. This morning, in the newsagent's shop I am greeted as ever: "It's Roger Fedora," and then he laughs at his own pun. He does it every time. I once replied: "I take my hat off to your wit," doffing the hat as I did so, but I only did it once.
He's a genial fellow though and hard working too, I certainly wouldn't work the hours that he puts in. Today, after we got Roger Fedora out of the way, he drooled over the shirt that Tina made and gifted me, for Christmas just gone. It was a lovely sunny morning, we haven't seen many of those, so out came the shirt and the Gamboa straw, (another first for 2021,) and off to pay my paper bill I went.
Admittedly the shirt was a tease, it features 1940's Ford Woodies, surf boards and palm trees. Dean, the newsagent has a 1953 Morris Woodie and a lovely car it is too. I paid my bill, exchanged some trivial chit-chat, sort of, it's not easy when your voices are muffled behind face masks, then when I was leaving he left a sentenced unfinished: "When you get bored with your shirt............."
I might get Tina to make him one similar, then tease him, "If you want the shirt, can we forget Roger?" We'll see.

The above post is a classic case of age related amnesia, well actually, it's classic stupidity. Spot the deliberate mistake, it's in the wrong thread. Now I have a dilemma. It should be in the "Folks Reaction to Hat Wearing," should I put a link there? It's also an obvious, "You Know When You Are Getting Old," faux pas, should I put a link there? Think I'll just leave it where it is. No doubt my memory will have lapsed in a few weeks time and I shall repeat myself when the newsagent calls me Roger Fedora for the umpteenth time, hopefully, in the correct thread.

Ha! Definitely old fart syndrome. I don't know if you are calling me Roger as a tease or not. The newsagent calls me Roger Fedora as a pun. He's taken tennis player Roger Federer's name and turned the surname into Fedora. Truth be told, he had never heard of the fedora, he originally thought that my hat was an oversize trilby, so in correcting him, I made a rod for my own back.I had a funny, pithy response to your post Roger

Yep, my Father and I each owned one of the woven grass one. Bought on holidays sometime late 1950's....likely in Wenatchee or Cashmere WA. Classic, baby, classic.

I quite like elements of this. The jacket / tunic and trousers are clearly a traditional African costume (I *think* North African, but don't hold me to that). I like that he's clearly having fun with it, but a more classic, wide-brimmed fedora would have imo set off the look better.
Saw this in my feed this morning...
Makes me think of the illustrations of Dr Gonzo in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Without the logo, it could have promise.
