Can You Dry Clean a B-15 with a Real Fur Collar?

Hi all,

I recently got ahold of a Buzz Rickson B-15 flight jacket. It's in decent shape. Really meant as a "knock-around" jacket. It's coming secondhand, so I'd like to get it dry cleaned for good measure. Will the dry cleaning damage the fur collar? I expect there are folks on here who have experience with this exact issue. Any advice would be appreciated.

Best,
DW

I recommend bringing it to a reputable leather/ fur specialist. If there isn't one in your area there are mail in services. Wouldn't bring a leather garment to any old corner store dry cleaner- it's good to look into place's reputations, whether they take pride in their work, etc.

I see that your location is Brooklyn- you should be able to find something. A member here may chime in, but a good practice is to go into a high end store and ask the sales assistants where they typically get stuff cleaned. Self Edge has a location in the LES, you could call them and ask what they recommend as they carry high end leather garments. I would expect to pay, though, but I find that top quality care is worth it. YMMV
