Thanks for posting these, that is a great looking Sweater, (Jumper, Pullover, Jersey etc) :)

Thank you. It’s a great fit. In a sense it’s an impostor because it’s not made in Norway but southern England (Sussex). However it’s also a better fit than the ‘real’ and admittedly old Norwegian sweaters I have. I might get the Ecru and Navy version as well.

I have ordered the matching Ecru and Navy Norwegian from Peter Christian as they had a Free Mail offer! I couldn’t resist it because although I have a very old version in those colours the fit of the Navy and Ecru sweater (see early photos) is so good that I couldn’t resist getting its matching version. It should be arriving tomorrow!

Cool post. Being a Norwegian it is kind of fun to see that you guys appreciate traditionally handcrafred Norwegian wool garments. A few of the most traditional and popular knit sweaters or cardigans (kofte) are "Valdres kofte", "Marius genser"(modern pattern but very popular) and "islender genser". Also check out the "Sælbuvotter", mitts with the most traditional Norwegian patterns there is...

Do you have a website for the Saelbuvotter?

I was watching a Programme a few days ago on the UK TV Channel 5, about the Words best scenic rail journeys which was very good, it featured the Bergen to Oslo railway line which I have travelled on and can recommend. One of the railway stations the train called at was at the town of Dale which is known for it's fabulous Norwegian Sweaters, they gave a brief history of how these sweaters came about and how they became famous, it was very interesting. I shall have to add on to my wish list. (Infact a friend of mine who has been to Norway several times has a couple, I wonder if I should pinch one of his  )

I shall have to look up this programme. ... I'm looking forward to sweater weather again. The Rehearsal for Hell (i.e. Summer) has started suddenly. I hope it's a short one this year!

Yes, the programme was good, some other scenes too when locals who were being interviewed where also wear those sweaters. Agree, it is too hot now.

I was the next programme in the same series last night which featured a railway journey in Austria and which visited a ski centre in the Alps where there was a live display of ski-ing and ski-ing fashions of teh past and again good men's sweaters featured, as well as lederhosen.

No that's not it, I will know as soon as I hear it,, they do a great looking 1/4 & 1/2 zip,, it's driving me mad.
If it's Norwegian then Ulvang and Devold are other big brands, traditional knit wear can also be found at Husfliden. You can try the Norwegian search terms Ullgenser (wool sweater), glidelås (zipper), norsk/norskprodusert (Norwegian/produced in Norway)and herre (mens) to see if you have any luck.

I'm starting to think that they may be a German company.
