They really do look like completely different boots. I liked them light as they came, I love them now that they darkened.

Completely agree. I can't for the life of me get into cognac/tan/natural boots because of how clean they are and how odd it looks before the patina and wear finally makes them look interesting.

Would that treatment work in soft suede too?
I have a pair of RM Williams in tan suede that I’d love to darken a little but I’m not sure how yo go it, any tips?
I honestly don’t know how it would work on those. Maybe shoot RM an email and ask their opinion to be safe? But they really look incredible and they are just a bit more weather resistant as well. So what I did was use Huberds Shoe Grease. It’s a few different waxes, primarily beeswax mixed with pine tar. If you’ve never used it before, it’s quite a strong scent. I actually love it, but be warned ha. In any case if the cans been sitting for a while the ingredients can separate so make sure to mix it real well. I also heated up some water. Not boiling, but warm and put the water in a bowl. Then I put the Huberds can in the bowl. Let it heat and melt the wax. Then I mixed it really well. I applied it with my fingers, and used a toothbrush to get it in the cracks and crevices. Like I said might hit a spot or two again. But that’s the method I used and they came out great.
Thanks for that mate, I might try it first in a pair of rough out Chippewa engineers that need TLC, and you’re right, I will contact RM and ask for advice, these are very nice Chelsea boots and don’t want to ruin them.
Exactly why I got the ATF boots. They hit the sweet spot. I wanted an accurate representation of Type 3 boots. A lot of companies do rough out service but they are more inspired by originals than actually repros of them. I also wanted to keep it under 300. Any less and the boots would probably fall apart. Anymore and I would hate to ruin the leather. Over that price if I screwed up or didn’t like them I would be pissed ha.
I really like them. Couple pair of boots inbound so idk. Look much better darker i think and cant wait to see them all beaten up and worn in. How did you size them? Tts or down a 1/2?

Can't wait to see your pair of Nick's. They are on my short list. I am torn between Wesco Jobmasters and the Nick's. I have a pair of Wesco's harness boots already. I already know about the quality there. I thought it was an easy decision to go with the jobmasters, then I came across Nick's.
I think the process is a little more involved with Nick's as opposed to the Wesco's. How is your experience going? About how long does it take to get a finished pair of boots?
Thanks, me too! I placed my order for some urban loggers on Jan 11. This is my first order so I’m doing the try-on process. I have a wider foot and I was drawn to the nicks fit guarantee and breadth of sizes/widths. Unfortunately I still haven’t received my try-on pair and was told they are running around 8-10 weeks for the try-on process. After that, I think the build process takes at least 80 days. Definitely stretches your patience!
Before I picked Nicks I also was torn but between Nick’s and whites. I chose nicks because their website was better, their customization options were clear, and they introduced veg tan leathers. Plus I was swayed by some comparison videos on YouTube. I think they’re both great (and Wescos too) and your selection ultimately turns on which particular style/model you prefer. All the PNW makers are good at what they do. Good luck; I don’t think you can make a wrong choice.

Next up on my boot list is my pair of Attractions Lot. 444 engineers in black Japanese vegetable tanned horsehide
Here is another pair of engineers that are surprisingly low on the list, but this can be attributed more to the fact that I have not worn these boots all that much yet. In terms of design and leather, I think these boots are absolutely gorgeous and I love to wear these with my black leather jackets. I wish they had triple stitching on the vamp, but it's not a deal breaker as these are really meant to replicate very standard, even cheap engineers from the past. The leather is absolutely beautiful and has some really nice visible horsehide grain, especially higher up on the shaft of the boots. They are tea core, but I'm not expecting to see much of the core showing through any time soon because I am generally very light on my footwear. Even boots I wear all the time do not get beat up.
These are just under $1k and I do wish the stitching on the vamp was cleaner. It's not perfect on these and I feel like it should be better now that the price has increased on these. It's not terrible and these are better made than some of my boots, but IMO should be better. Around the same price you also have Lofgren and basically, Lofgren doesn't have as nice of a leather, but has better construction.

@dudewuttheheck Your Attractions Engineers are really nice and basically the shape was the main reason for me why I still (or better said no longer) have Engineer boots. The shape of your Attraction Engineers is just the most beautiful on Engineers I've seen so far...or probably they only look so good on you! If I ever buy Engineer boots these ones are on my short-list. I even know that a local shop (just 10 min away from my house) do have Clinch Horsebutt Engineer boots in my size

Thanks! I would definitely rate Clinch over the Attractions. Obviously, they're a lot more money, but as much as I like these Attractions, I prefer my Clinch pairs by far.

Thanks! Actually, in those pictures, I am wearing my Conners Sewing Factory 1937 jeans. They are now too big for me, but I still have them because of how nicely faded they are. My current pair is the TCB 1940s, but I'm waiting on a new pair from CSF.
