I'm pretty sure it's rabbit. If it were beaver, the labels would say so. It sure doesn't look beaver in the photos.

I’ve seen these modern Borsalinos that have the fur type printed on the tag. Is it printed on your, front or back or the part covered by the size tag?

No, I can only find the material of the lining. I was just a bit surprised by the original price of 650€ - okay, it was bought in Paris, but 650€ for a more or less „standard Borsalino“ seems to be a lot.

Good point, Brent. I can see the label behind the size tag is in German. It says, in the part that can be seen, that parts of the hat are of animal origin. Take a photo of the front and back of that label DVNO.

It is indeed a lot. If it was sold in a boutique on the Champs-Élysées, that might explain the exorbitant price.

Around 2010 I was looking at Borsalinos in a Seattle WA hat shop. $350-$400 was the range. I did not buy as, on inspection the quality was appalling for a hat at that price. The felt quality was decent but the workmanship appalling. So the $650 Euro price is head smackingly high

We did a self drive canal boat tour with our friends and at the end they said if they don't send home a picture of them drinking coffee on the Champs their children will not forgive them.....so we did!

Here's a Q

Does this brim seem 2-1/4" or 2-3/8"? According to a search, Art Fawcett said Bogart's 'Maltese Falcon' hat was 2-3/8", so I'd lean toward that. But someone else said 2-1/4".

What bearing this has on anything, I'm not entirely sure.

(Side note: Bogart's swagger is off the charts.)

It's not a rounding jack. They put a leather cord through it and the cord seems to become nice and straight, as far as I can tell
