Denim Jackets - New or Vintage

what's the scuttlebutt on this one? Anyone tried one on? Had one? Heard things? They're half-price at the moment. I like the pocket layout quite a bit, so it piqued my attention. Would love to hear what others have to say about it.

I bought this type 2 for my gf. Amazing quality selvedge denim, copper hardware. The distressing looks very convincing.

I like the manufactured distressing on the front. Unless the sleeves are really long the honeycombing on the sleeves may be a tad overboard. It also looks like they didn't distress the denim panels on the back of the sleeve with the combs?

Really nice looking type 2 though

You're right, maybe it's not perfect. But it looks much better than mine.

Mine looks like they started distressing the sleeves, then had lunch break and when they came back they forgot about this one and went on to do another one

Ha thats hilarious. Yeah the parts don't look like they belong to the same jacket.

I was just surprised to see the combs not wrapping around on your partner's jacket since from what I understand normally high-end manufactured distressing occurs on the completed garment not on the individual panels. So possibly it was a design decision intentionally. Or possibly they distress in a different fashion since honestly the front and back panels look pretty spot-on. Just seems odd they'd think a seam would completely stop creasing from occurring on wear spots. I can normally tell if a jacket is manufactured distressing because the elbow isn't nearly distressed enough. From my experience denim jackets take a super long time to fade as a whole and my elbow is far and away the most contrasting wear spot. I'll try and get some pics of my SelfEdge x Iron Heart type3 at some point. It isn't the most faded piece in the world but it looks pretty good.

you can see under the collar how much it’s lightened up. Some of the distressing almost looks yellow.

Double dripping wet to dry denim, both 1st real wash after 1 yr, water on the jacket was really yellow. Both shrank at least a size, while i already rinsed them few days after first wear.

95% dry,
half size shrinkage on the jacket I like it more hopefully won't expand back,

full size shrinkage on the weft on the pants waist and hip and knee room are affected, the length is not affected

This is probably a good deal for gfs. A deadstcok Valencia factory type 2 made in 1999. There is a crease mark though.

Nice. I've handled Key Imperial dungarees (bib-overalls I think they're called in the US?), I liked them. A nice, utilitarian feel to them compared to a lot of denim we see these days. Affordable, as well.

A lot of chore coats I've seen produced for casual wear, as opposed to strictly workwear, do seem in recent years to have a slimmer cut. At the start of last Summer, I bought an unlined TU chorecoat (labelled as an "overshirt") in a tan cotton at the beginning of last Summer, and one in indigo at the end of the Summer. Both been worn a lot over the last few months as until very recently I've mostly only left the house to run over the road to the shop. The tan one is the fit I prefer - bit looser. The indigo one is cut a little, but noticeably, neater, though it's 2% stretch (other 98% is cotton), so it doesn't impede significantly. They had another version of the blue one with regular buttons (mine has jean-style studs); I do wonder if it was the other fit. I'm hoping they might do them again in black - for £20 they're a perfect throw-on, no fuss jacket.

A selvedge version of the British Battledress jacket/ tunic. Not intended to be an exact repro of a particular pattern (though it strongly echoes the wartime "utility pattern", and the denim version - the Royal Navy at one point had a blue denim version, as distinct from the green denim issued to the army as workwear, and which was often used as main uniform by Home Guard units). I'm particularly taken with this. I've been looking at denim jackets again after many years without one; I'm not a fan of the Type 3. I liked the Wrangler 124MJ, but all the (affordable) modern version of those have distorted proportions (particularly too long in the body). I like how these retain the waist-length, which is what I want in a shorter jacket.

Could be tempted to put a stitch or two in the buckle end to hold it to the jacket front more, though the dangling other end is fine with me - reminiscent of a front-belt on a Perfecto.

Hello everyone, today i got this deep indigo Levi's chore jacket. Almost matching my IH jeans.

It has been a stormy cold March on this rock. L.C. King Manufacturing Wabash work coat on a "chilly" day. I didn't go to work.

Type3 selvedge kendogi from local denim brand here Wingman for something like $70, i like how thick in appearance it is while being light and not starchy, and its weaving is more like knit and it can sag and curved a bit with wear.
Been washed 4 times in 2yrs since the fabric is dust magnet, i vaccum clean it weekly
The indigo bleed in multiple washes, just losing color saturation allover. Copper buttons have blackened even oxidized the button hole into pinkish fade. Also I think this collar shape and size is my prefered among denim jackets I have.

Trying Jeggings fabric, actually. 58% cotton, 32% polyester, 10% elasthane.

Seems nice, but let's see, how it works in compare to Jog-Denim.
