but the issue might be with licensing. That grill might be offered by a third party manufacturer that is actually licensed to do so.
Big corporations protect their designs & enforce their trademarked names & part numbers from being used on reproduction parts aggressively when the possibility of product liability raises it's ugly head. If a second or third party is making a reproduction mechanical brake part for a Ford Model A identical to the original down to the name & part number cast into the part for Model A restorers, Ford is going to stop that immediately. They don't even care about what little revenue might be made on a licensing agreement. They deny all such requests. Just one example.

I wouldn't think a sweat stamping on a custom hat would be a problem. Should it ever become one just stop when you get the cease & desist letter from the attorneys.

My Walden returned home after a visit with Rick. It was sized up from a 7 3/8 to a 7 3/4. The liner no longer fit, so Rick made a new liner and used to original tip in the new one: a wonderful surprise. Rick also recreated the markings on the sweatband and the entire hat shows that same attention to detail. The ribbon and brim original; albeit, the ribbon came off and was modified to fit the larger diameter before going back on.

Six inch open crown and 4 5/8 inch bound brim.

The plan was for it to get a big brim curl; however, the felt is so soft that it won’t hold the curl. I don’t see that as a drawback as there is no shortage of felt that is half fur and half shellac! The crown wouldn’t seem out of place on a fine vintage fedora it’s that thin and malleable. I’m still working on the shape, but it’s already a prized hat. Rick outdoes himself with every new project!

I’m sure I could pass this hat off as an original! Everything about it is superb. Thank you, Rick!
Rick did a great job on that! He's an artist for sure!

Giving Phoenix some love. I miss seeing Rick’s more regular posts. He really made me some wonderful hats.

I'm glad to see you still hanging around here, Rick. I get a lot of enjoyment out of the hats you made for me.
Thanks Regan. I'm happy that you're still getting some good use out your hats. I've wanted one of your "Virginia Trekker" hats for a while and finally have one. I should mention that it's only because I made this one in the wrong color and was forced to keep it for myself. I'm chalking it up to COVID "brain fog". Hah!

Sorry, but no website and I'm currently on hiatus from custom hat making. Thanks for your interest though. There are so many excellent established and up and coming hatters out there right now that I'm sure you'll have no problem finding just the hat you're looking for.

Rick, I'd buy one of your "mistakes" any day. I really enjoy my two "dress" hats and they draw a lot of positive comments, but the Trekker gets worn anytime I'm outside but not going to town. It is indeed perfect for its intended use.

Take care of yourself!

That's okay, I'm pretty much done with hat buying now. It'd take alot of activation energy for me to buy a custom. It's just sad that the hat industry appears to be dying out.
