Montgomery Ward c.1950
This jacket has no label, but has been seen with this MW label. These same jackets appear under the California Sportswear Californian label. I believe with the Made and Styled and California in bold letters is a hint that California Sportwear Co. made these jackets.

This MW label is also seen which looks very much like a Ralphs-Pugh label used in the early 50s.

This is what I call a late 1940s Montgomery Ward label.
This is a rarely seen Windward Leather label. c.late 40s
This is the main 1950s Windward label
The above label became the Brent label c.late 50s
I mentioned above the Made and Styled in California labels I assume sometime in the early 50s/late 40s

Sponge Bob Square Pockets jacket. This was a very popular trim around the pockets. These style of jackets were available from all the Catalog stores in the 1950s. I think of the Styled and made in California as earlier 50s when all the catalogs were advertising "made in California" on many of their jackets. This ended fairly quickly.

Yes, they have all come in from Japan. The jacket you are referring to came from Oregon.

I've been intrigued by the "California Chrome Tanned" tag on some California Sportswear jackets. All four in this video have a similar tag. Would like to know why they specified Cali Chrome Tanned. Something special about the process? Just advertising?

These are some real beauties Terry. Especially that brown one second from the right!!!! The sleeve has SOOOOO MUCH Graining and character!!!!!! It looks like an elephant trunk!!!!!! Awesome jacket!!!!!!!!

Thought I would start a series on my youtube channel. This one is jackets from the 1930s.
Today is a Goatskin Aviator jacket. Very light weight goat in excellent condition. Lining is also light weight. A popular style reflecting the romance with aviation into the late 1930s. Features the beautiful sunrise Talon zipper, triple marked. Traditional half-belt with side adjustments at the half-belt.

This is the Windward/Admiral Byrd 1930s Half-belt. Admiral Byrd label says Pony Hide. I have seen this exact jacket in brown. This has the early Montgomery Wards label on a cotton flannel lining. The addition of the Admiral Byrd label I can not explain. I have had Admiral Byrd jackets with no MW label, so I'm not sure what that means. If I could find this jacket in my size I would own it. This is my favorite style of front pockets.
Perfect example of why true vintage pieces absolutely destroy, annihilate and obliterate anything made today. Painful to watch in a way. Because it won’t ever get that good again. Period.
