Is my 1960s Langlitz Columbia Horsehide?

I bought this fantastic Langlitz Columbia that I believe to be from the 1960s and is (probably) horsehide? Ive owned many Langlitz but none with this kind of grain. Its pretty damn thick and HEAVY. Anyone here have any opinions? Either way, Im thrilled to death it fits me

Keep in mind I didn't zip the sleeves for the pic. It fits nice and snug at the wrists when they're zipped. This is the last Langlitz I'll ever own. It's a keeper!

Beautiful jacket. Looks great on you.

I emailed Langlitz with the same question about a 50s jacket I owned. They were very helpful and provided a whole bunch of information about the jacket.

Youre right. I plan on having them make a fur collar for it so Im sure this guys will tell me some info on it when I drop it off.

Ask Langlitz, they'll tell you. If it's got a green label, might be.

Its a white label. Still, it reminds me of an old Cal Leathers HH jacket I used to own...

Earliest a white label was used is the 50s, but it can still be cow. Best bet is to ask them. I was surprised when they told me my jacket was cow. It was still one of the prettiest jackets I have ever owned. Pure teacore bliss. Being the nitwit that I am, I sold it a couple years ago. I actually owned two and sold both.

Mine was the same. Practically dark brown in sunlight.

I did the same thing. I sold my amazing goatskin padded Columbia which fit me PERFECT. I have no idea why): I regretted it so bad that I tried to track down the guy I sold it to, but no luck. Luckily, I bought this one for a steal and thank god it fits

It looks like a regular cow Langlitz to me, but i also think that cow and horse can be impossible to tell appart if they are tanned the same, so what do i know?

Yeah, it probably is cowhide. Ill know more after I stop by Langlitz next week. Ill post back and let you all know what I find out. It has some curious features such as no bottom front snap button, brass Conmar sleeve and pocket zippers, Non-brass Talon main zip and non-brass lapel/belt loops buttons.

I was thinking of that Columbia the other day, it was the one that got away, I was sorry I didn’t buy it from you. Now I know I probably would have ended up selling it back to you (and regretted it afterwards lol) I don’t feel so bad!

Yeah, Ive made some poor decisions in my life, but selling that Langlitz is near the top of the list): Fortunately, buying this one for so cheap helps take the sting out of it!
