I normally shy away from track wagers Easter weekend but due to cataract surgery, Covid, and a prolonged
absence from the horses I decided to play pagan and eyed three irresistible queens: The Wood Memorial
at Aqueduct; The Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland, and The Santa Anita Derby. Handicapped, set, and ready
to leave when I thought better and elected to scratch Saturday. And those gals were all winking at me
and smiling quite seductively. ;)

Blood pressure is spiking this afternoon. I'm working with a graphics person on the cover for a book I'm publishing and just got two examples this afternoon. Long story short, I just needed somebody to execute my own design, which I made clear from the start. I provided original images and a full mockup with detailed explanations and instructions. I indicated where there could be leeway (fonts) and said I would welcome and consider suggestions. In the mean time, silence. I got back two examples today neither of which were anywhere near to what I instructed. Is it really so hard to follow instructions? I'm told that revisions take 24 hours. So I'm on a slow simmer. This is not a revision. It is what should have been done in the first place.

Ran downstairs to Starbucks for coffee, came back to the breakroom, and about to peruse some Arkansas Derby
thoroughbred material culled off the Net when I was shanghaied into a discussion of a HIV + client's civil rights at a
state of Illinois criminal halfway house. This is a long way from Estate & Trust law. o_O

If I had a financial interest in this operation, I’d have been looking to running ads long ago.

Gotta wonder how it determines which ads to show me. I have yet to see a one for a product of any interest to me.

I always asked myself, why cassettes sound so much better than CD. So much richer! Not in the sense of LP, but very rich! Must be the direct sampling.

Equally, if an Bee Gees MC from late 70s or an Kuschelrock MC from late 80s or an Alan Parsons MC form the 90s. Always sounding fantastic!
Listen to Danny Wilson's Mary's Prayer from MC!! Or Bee Gees "Nights on Broadway".

I've never been a fan of cassettes as a medium; as soon as I got my first record and CD player, I rebought all of them in those superior formats. The end of cassettes for me was when I was able to switch to mp3 way back around 2004 for portable music.

That said, not all CDs were the upgrade that the industry claimed them to be. This is not the fault of the format, but rather that a superior format can't give you improved sound if they put an inferior / unsuitable mix on it.

So has something changed with FL in the last hour or two? All of a sudden I'm getting more pop up ads than ever before. It blocks content and is exceedingly annoying.

We've switched ad partner recently, and what a lot of members are experiencing today is an unexpected side-effect of that, it seems. IT is being addressed behind the scenes; hopefully we'll have it sorted soon. A level of advertising is necessary in order to keep the lights on round here, but management are aware of and seeking to address member's concerns. As we don't control this directly, do please be aware that it may take a day or two to get to the bottom of it, but that doesn't mean it's not being looked into!

I'm not sure if the adverts are targeted by country. I remember a shirt company, name of Charles Tyrwhitt, that ran for some time. It does seem odd that on The Lounge there are two main streams of interest, that being hats and leather jackets, neither of which have I seen many adverts aimed specifically at those audiences.
Like others have said the way the current crop of adverts are so intrusive they ruin the pleasure of The Lounge. It's especially galling when I'm reading someone's post and an advert comes up right where I am trying to read.

Although I prefer a homburg to the fedora, I eschew hats and own two leather A2 jackets from 101st Airborne days.
Books and Fading Fast movie reviews, Lizzie's knowledge bank, and Burma's sexual proclivities-or lack thereof-are draws.:D

In the same boat. I am getting ads covering, indeed REPLACING images in a post.

Ads as necessary evil, okay. Ads covering images, not okay.

My uncle had a Kenwood HiFi-equipment for circa 14 years and he even always didn't like the chrome cassettes and prefered the cheaper iron cassettes, which are still in production. He always said, he never liked the sound of self-records from radio on chrome cassettes. He said, the chrome cassettes had crappy sound, while the iron cassettes hadn't.

NEVER eat them, when you was gifted with them for Easter!
Now it finally happened, that I bit one in two and immediately cut into my palate very badly with the thick "shell"! A lot of cold water had to help me!

Now, my evening is messed up!

Thank you for your efforts. Hopefully we'll be able to at least achieve some semblance of the previous normalcy to which we have become accustomed. I'm on a laptop and the ads pretty much cover close to 80% of the content, though it's reasonably (reluctantly so) tolerable at work when I'm docked to a larger screen.
