I always visit The Lounge on an IPad and for whatever reason, I have yet (thankfully) to see the big mess of obtrusive ads that many are complaining about. There are a number of ads on the right, but nothing that would be so bothersome for me to get upset. Actually, I do not believe that more than the normal number are appearing. Maybe it is the IPad or maybe I am just oblivious/clueless.

Nope, we just got it fine tuned. New ad provider had to get things sorted.

I don’t know, I was around earlier this week and did not notice anything different. Clueless might be the appropriate answer. Nonetheless, thank you for all that you and the other Bartenders do to keep this place up and running. I am sure that it is not said enough, but you all are appreciated.

This is going slightly off-topic, I admit, but I can’t help thinking that the proliferation of unwanted ‘ads’ is a symptom of something larger. I have been an FL member since 2010 and over the past few years - and the past year in particular- I have noticed a change in the style and general tone of the site. It used to be a bit like belonging to a nice, laidback men’s club, only online. Now, dare I say it, it is losing some of that gentlemanly vibe and (again dare I say it) becoming a bit dowdy and downmarket - populist even. I don’t want to upset anyone but it’s been something I have been thinking for a while and wonder if others feel the same.
I’m still wondering whether I dare hit the ‘Post Reply’ button as I’m a bit worried about getting abuse for saying all this, but ... when good men do nothing, etc. ... so I’ll take the plunge.

Well, I don't know what you else you would be expecting. if you're worried about getting stung then maybe you shouldn't be poking at the hornet's nest? In any event, good luck. Otherwise, just try to do your part in making FL a pleasant experience by getting along with people the best you can.

I see adds between post but I can just hold the button down a split second longer and go right past them, no problems here. Actually this is about the only forum I visit every day usually. Good people here, seldom see any problems. As a matter of fact it is so rare to see a problem between people that it's something of a special occasion. Entertaining.

You won't find me throwing my toys out, but I do get so frustrated at times that I just give up and log off.

Is it just the browser, then? I use Firefox for Mac and I am not having any of these troubles with ads. I have no floating ads, none appearing over the posts here... nothing obtrusive at all.
