I’m really looking forward to seeing your jacket finished. I think your design and the shirt that @MrProper posted are other examples of styles where a contrast stitch works with the design of the jacket.

Me too! I'm torn between brown or olive for the stitching though. It looks great with the brown but I thought it could also be nice with olive lining and stitching...still got some time until they finish the pattern.
I remember that Cossack, I know the leather was brown on that one but I think it would go well with black too.

That's good to know. Aero looks thicker indeed but the colour on the 5* is richer and I like that. If you say it's quite thick, that should do the job. I'll have to decide eventually but I like brown stitching and the olive lining too
Hi everyone. I am really liking what I see of 5* offerings, but I confess I'm not crazy about the leather selection they have.
Then I saw a seller in the classifieds with a jacket made by Shawn with leather he supplied - I'll post my questions here if anyone has some insight:
1.) How much leather is required to make a jacket? 30 square feet? I'm talking about a CR sized jacket.
2.) Ballpark, what would Shawn charge for the service, any ideas?
3.) Where would you get it? I wondered if it's possible to source some Horween and send it his way.
Any suggestions are welcome, thanks!

My feeling is that if you source from Tannery Row your jacket will cost a little shy of a new Aero and you won’t have their name if you want to sell later on. If you’re able to find a good leather at someplace like Tandy you’ll probably get it for 1/2 the price of Horween and lower your overall cost quite a lot.

I waited for months for his horsehide to come in. I was disappointed to learn it is on the thin side, soft, and only in russett and brown. I wanted a tough, thick, grainy black.
I don't know which colour .I guess brown like the recent hide he got send .I ask him when he sends me a update about my hereon inspired *cough* copied jacket sorry Mr.Himmel .
I will definitely order a cxl Halfbelt then with my Scottish tartan liner and riri hardware .Never thought I could get so close to owning a jacket in that caliber with my electrician trainee money . I would have send him the supplies already if I didn't need to wait for my last parcel
