Like two months ago these absolutely incredible Santa Rosa engineers were on eBay. They were going for 70. Someone clearly didn’t know what they had. I think they went for like 110. But I was in a battle and lost on literally the last second. Oh well, someone got the deal of a lifetime. Yours look great as well. Really makes the outfit.

EDIT: I realize that might not have been clear. They were listed at 70, but ended up selling for 110. I got in a bid of 105, and quite literally last .00000001 someone put up 110 and I lost out. High quality Santa Rosas can go for 500-900. 110 would have been a steal. Whoever got them is a lucky, lucky sob.

Those engineers are awesome @Mysteryo !

Number 2 for for my collection now:

Clinch custom Classic Narrow engineers in brown Italian veg tan horsehide

While I love my black Clinch engineers, I love these more. In fact, the top two boots on this list are the most solidly in the positions that I have them listed at. These are easily my favorite engineer boots and I do genuinely believe that the Clinch engineer on the original classic narrow last (NOT the classic narrow wide last) is the best engineer you can buy. Again, I feel fortunate for being able to buy these custom in this gorgeous mid-brown vegetable tanned Italian horsehide with tan stitching which slightly contrasts the leather. These boots are just incredibly stunning and are a go-to for me. Like the other Clinch engineers, they are also quite comfortable for me. In fact, they are only after my White Klouds and Role Clubs in terms of comfort for me right now. A big reason that I have not bought all that many engineers after both of these pairs is because I haven’t felt the need to. I have already reached the engineer summit with these custom Clinch boots. The quality of the leather, quality of the design, and quality of construction cannot be matched in terms of engineers. Plus, I got the exact color and contrast stitching I wanted. This red/orange mid brown is my favorite color for leather.

They match my Freewheelers Caboose extremely well:

Shout out to the experts: I am having my ee on a pair of Viberg Service Boots (last 310). Can anyone offer advice on how sizing compares to - say RedWing, Truman Boot Co., Wolverine, Crokett&Jones, so that I have a reference number?

I am a size 7.5 in Viberg 310 (and 1035 and 2030), 7.5 in RedWing IR, size 8 in Truman boots. Love the 310 last, they look special but feel great with the boxy toe shape.

I dont own vibergs and see even from boot retailers all sorts of size up and down crazy advise on these higher end boots we all love. I take the same size in whites, wesco, red wing, alden, etc. some a hair longer, shorter, wider, etc. but i just roll with it. I think a full size is 1/3 inch so half size is 1/6 inch (0.4 cm ?) pretty negligible to me I feel. I think sizing same as iron ranger boots you will be good to go. Most my boots feel long up front and as they break in and my foot settles into the footbed it moves a little forward and it turns out great

I wear a size 8 for RW Blacksmith. 8.5 on Truman C55 last, size 8 on 79 last. I haven't tried vibergs but was recommended 7.5D by standard and strange and also by @JCSD

I'm a 10.5 on a brannock and am sort of in between a 9.5 and 10 on a viberg 2030. The 2030 is just a little narrow so I believe in the 310 I would be a 9.5, but I've never owned a pair.

@Marc mndt I know you're messing around, but:

1. The grain size is absolutely ridiculous on those engineers.
2. The leather on my RMC is my least favorite aspect of it.
3. Those engineers are incredibly ugly. :p

Thank you so much. Makes perfect sense to me. I am a US 10.5 in trumans and a straight US 10 in everything else...

Thanks. I will do so. My feet rarely cause me trouble, and I can always overcome a 0.5 size with the appropriate pair of socks...

I wouldn't buy these myself for the above reasons ^^

But I do like to see something out of the ordinary once in a while and this is just that. It looks fun and I can imagine there are people who will love these engineers.

Great, thanks! I can get a 10 (as in my RW, which should do the trick with a pair of CHUP socks.
