Anyone been to Aero?

Sometime in the next 3 to 4 months I'll be looking to get an Aero Hudson.

Rather than throw £800ish on-line I'm the old fashioned sort who likes to see and touch expensive (to me) clothing which leads to the question in the header.

On their site it mentions a showroom. I know I could call and ask what they have on show, lead times etc but I'd rather not bother them until the time comes to buy one. Then I'll call, make an appt and visit them. Will give me a chance to look at different leather samples, colours etc and hopefully get them to measure me up so I get the right size first time .

Has anyone here visited them? Do they have one or two or quite a few jackets on show?

they have racks & racks of jackets.........there is no substitute for trying on a jacket.....just let them know you are going to drop by.....( assuming they are open to the public in a few months )

I'm hoping that within a few months we might be heading back towards reality. Time will tell.

I was there in 2016.
They do have indeed many racks of jackets. The smell of leather is intoxicating. You can also visit the workshop on the basement and see the machinists in action.

Was fairly undecided between a Hudson or a Northeaster.

Then I found this...decision made!

I'm a 42 usually, dependant on the style / manufacturer can be a 44 however, thank you for that, appreciated.

Hopefully, as of Monday, things will be back to something a bit normal - non-essential shops in Scotland can reopen to the public on April 26th - and you can go along. It's a great place to visit, loads to look at and try on, the smell of the place is just amazing, and Denny and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Warning: take your wallet, because even if you're there just to order a jacket, you'll probably end up walking out with a couple of other purchases!

Update time..

Spoke to a lady at Aero yesterday re booking a visit. Turns out the showroom isn't open until 1st June so, appt made and will be there then.
She asked me re sizing etc and suggested that ideally I go there and they can measure me so there aren't going to be any boo boos. Said it would be the Hudson I was after and she said rarely are those in stock and lead time on all jackets is currently around 14-16 weeks. I suppose the good thing about getting one made is that it'll fit as opposed to buying one from stock that might be not exactly to my ideal.
Chances are I'll also plump for another jacket whilst up there, the one that's got my interest is the Windward. In effect with it having storm cuffs and an alpaca lining it could also be classed as a cold weather jacket. Again with having one made I could also change the specs re lining and storm cuffs so it'd become more of a Spring / Autumn jacket. It's the shortest jacket they do however, most of my trousers, chinos and jeans are high waisted and wide legged stuff so a short cut would be perfect.
I was also told that the lengths of their jackets are geared for someone 5'11" tall. 6'2" here with a 42" chest, broad shoulders and a narrow waist so going to measured properly sounds a good idea.
Anyhow, as mentioned previously, my initial choice was CXFQHH. Having done a ton of reading on here it's safe to say I haven't now got a clue! Horsehide?, Steerhide?

^^ Reccommned trying on jackets made of each type of leather. Will tell you much more than us trying to on here.

When I was first introduced to Aero, in Thurston's former brick and mortor store in Seattle, I became aware of very subtle but meaningful differances between Steerhide and FQHH. My first couple were Steer, rest have been FQHH (and one now Vicenza). I now have a notion of a Steerhide jacket again, but that will be a ways off. The apparent differances are very well documented already here, do a search, or better, just go see/handle/try them all on and you will quickly notice what take thousands of words to even try to describe.

I was there in 2019. My second visit. It's well worth the trip. Ask for a quick tour. The factory floor is enchanting!
