Well, didn’t know I had bought this fine Knox from you! Sorry that it’s taken me so long to reply, but I just read your post today. I’ve been so very busy lately.
Anyway, Glad you letter go. She’s a real beaut!
Also nice to hear that the trolley may be original to the hat. I was wondering about it because it’s a good bit lighter in color and because the wind string is one of them elastic jobs.
Guess I was under the false impression that the hat was older (early 50’s) than the point when Knox was using elastic string (late 50’s).
Hey there! I’m not certain about the trolley. You are more of a hat aficionado than I am. I have a hunch you are much closer to being correct. It was on the hat when I purchased it a while back. The hat was presented as old and authentic. From your knowledge, I bet the seller was mistaken. Hope all is well back your way today.

I’m no dating expert. Just willing to be wrong and throw out some unstable guesses that, airy now and then, lands upright!
All is well, and hope the same for you and everybody here at the FL.

Unseasonably cool today, so the straw will have to wait a little while longer. Snowy River again today to pick up a new low table for our family room. This table is made from hinoki (Japanese cypress) and gives off a magnificent woody aroma that fills the whole room. I foresee many a photo being taken here for the Hats & Drinks thread!

Well, that's much more accessible for me than Karakalpakstan. Within a day's driving distance.

And crab cakes Benedict. Yum!
Either you live closer to London than I thought or you have a very fast car. This one is the old Tress&Co factory in London (UK):).

"The Brock" was my hat choice for a morning walkabout.

Mr Disney - Windsor Fifteen
4 3/4 crown as shaped - about 5 1/2 Open
2 inch grosgrain ribbon with gills
2 1/2 brim with Cavanagh edge
Wind Trolley

This Disney Windsor 15 checks off a number of boxes. I’ve wanted a wider brim Disney so this 50s Mr Disney with a two and a half inch Cavanagh edge brim definitely fits the bill. The 2 inch gills ribbon is definitely a kicker. And top it all off got it for a great deal! As this appears a 1950s hat... this one is likely made by Lee Hats and definitely has some Lee characteristics such as the DuPont water repellent. The felt is very smooth and fairly dense. I don’t think it’s had much of a pinch previously so it’s not super obedient on side dents. But that will come with time or a bit of steam.

This 2 1/2 brim fills out my grey and black Cavanagh edge line up fitting in perfectly between my 2 3/8 Resistol Kitten Finish and 2 7/8 Mac Lachlan which now range from 1 3/4 to 2 7/8. Oddly enough.. I don’t think there is an actual Cavanagh branded hat in the bunch

Very nice, Joe. I think the treating of the felt to be more water-repellent did have some influence on the felt and especially the ability to shape them. I've had some German hats that were treated, that are difficult to shape as well.

Vintage Richman Bros for surgery this morning.

The medical team is bound to take you seriously with that hat on, Bill.

A real fedora for once and not the usual western. Fed 4. View attachment 330605

Blue themed morning. A Monson gill ribboned fedora was my choice for a morning dog soiree.

Home I moved some bags of mulch in a blue 30's Canadian Kennsington fedora.

These hats will take the blues away for anyone. Stellar.

Wow! That's all I can say really.

Oooh and aaah, Max. Just look at the way that felt creases.
Super nice bowler, Ross. Great catch.

Really like the look of that Cross Country. Want one!

Oops. When I did a search, I confused it with this place (about 5-6 hours from me by car):

Still looks like a nice place.

You should. It's my nicest lightweight hat. Super thin felt; great hand.

Good Sunday morning folks.

Yesterday I got home late afternoon in time to enjoy the last of the remarkable 80'f afternoon. The first backyard shorts wearing day here in my neighborhood. I was out and about in a newer Stetson Stratoliner Milan.

As to my usual, I can not leave it alone and sit and relax. I did a hat change to cut some bushes. My Sunbody fedora got some time in the warmth.

Early Sunday morning dog soirree in a 30's Brock back-bowed hat. Lovely hat that I am wearing with the brim up as shown in the vintage hat advertisements.

Home I changed my hat to a Lee All-American for a walkabout of our property sipping some newly roasted Brazilian coffee.

Spring green growth is getting going in my neighborhood.

Breakfast was grilled buffalo sausage, corn bread and a fried egg. I topped it with some sweet spicy strawberry, pepper, tomato jam. An unlined Playboy was the topper for my morning meal efforts.

Cheers on this day, Eric -

It is just the way it stays when I grab it from the pinch. The shape of my fingers stays, like the felt was made of play doh
