How do you feel about(Vintage) fur?

I don't mind vintage fur myself. I have a few furs in my closet (which are slowly falling apart due to age and wear). I don't support modern furs, but more because I can't afford it, don't like the silhouettes, and for the most part can find vtg furs thrifting, estate saling, or antique shopping. I do wear them, because quite frankly, they are warm. Plus the critter would have been long gone by now regardless.

I also have a small collection of various animal parts and skulls. No taxidermy yet, but I feel if I can have these oddities I can wear fur.

Now of course, I realize this isn't for everyone -- either due to the "creepy" factor or a moral factor, so I never try to argue my reasons with anyone or try to convince them it's ok. It's a very personal decision. I just say, if you are ok with it, but worried about judgment, like everything, wear it with confidence and do you. If you are not, I suggest that the folks with moral superiority to go out and buy up all the furs they come across and donate them to animal shelters who can use them for bedding.

I know this conversation can go deeper, but I just wanted to add to the conversation and mention that I, personally, am ok with furs, whether functionable or fashionable.

My wife has a few fur coats. Two of her own purchased many years ago when growing up in Northern Alberta a fur was a necessity in order to survive winter. The other inherited from her mother. She does not wear them. One we live in a temperate climate but secondly if one wears a fur in our hippy dippy west coast culture you run the risk of having paint thrown at you or at the least spit on. So on those few very cold days she wears her Shearling coat.

I understand why they think it is a good idea to do it - destroy it so they can't wear it -- but all that does is make it so that jacket will be replaced. Continuing the demand for the fur industry.

I only wear my furs for about 2 months in the year when it gets cold enough. However I haven't gone out like I used, so these past 2 winters haven't seen the furs come out.
