New aero sheene steer question

Yo guys

So I have a used aero steer cafe racer 42 black that fits perfect. Was softened up and broke in from previous owner.

So I custom ordered a brown steer sheene 42 to go with it

The sheene has the exact same build and measures match up exactly.

But the chest and top of arms area feels too big. The rectangle area between shoulders, and clavicle to below pectoral seems large.

Is it because the new steer is so stiff it can feel loose because it's doesn't drape yet?
And it will settle down when worn in and lay more softly to the body?

Not sure any other reason the same model and measures would not fit the same.

Same pattern, same measurements. It should by any logic fit exactly the same once it's broken in.

It should fit just fine. Don't worry too much about it.

It's really hard to tell without photos of course, but there is a difference before and after breaking in that could explain what you're noticing.

That said, measurements do vary from jacket to jacket, there's some margin of error when it comes to how they cut the panels and sew them, supposedly.

Which, I never really understood, because surely this is something that they should be able to get pretty close to exactly right every time once they're a master of their craft. But I'd expect +/- 1/4" or so for a given dimension, and Aero says +/- 1". If I asked for a specific length and it came an entire inch off, I'd be mad about it, but the real test is the fit, and if it fit well, that's ultimately what matters to me. If it was within a 1" range of the desired measurement (eg, +/- 1/2") I wouldn't be too worried, unless it really had a detrimental effect on the measurement.

At any rate, you said both jackets measure exactly the same, yet feel different. There has to be a physical explanation for that. Maybe the reason is break-in, but there still should be something you can physically discern that is different between the two, otherwise they would feel exactly the same. It may be that the parts you're measuring are the same, but that there's some other dimension that isn't identical. Like, if the pit-pit measurement is the same, but the arm holes are different circumference, only you didn't measure the arm width, that could explain it.

But I guess the only thing for it is to wear the new one daily for a long time and get some wear in it, break it in, and see how it turns out.

I suspect it's the "stiffness" of the Steerhide. It is much to warm here now to wear any leather for long, so as you are able to break-it in a bit it should really help. That said, the last Steerhide & FQHH jackets I recieved were very stiff overall. So this may not be unexpected for the new jacket to feel a little less ideal in terms of fit.

Seems like its likely the jacket should soften with wear and fit correctly

I've had a ton of leather, just not a brand new steer cxl .

Gorgeous iacket, but gotta admit, not very flattering out the box. Stiff and boxy up top.

Odd it's boxy up top. I do hope it will work out for you here but that sounds a little off...

Pics are essential. Hard to say with any degree of certainty otherwise. While my new Aeros certainly haven’t been drape-y out of the box, I never questioned the actual fit. Within under one minute I know the answer. Good or bad.
