Hi all,
My ANJ-4 desperately needs a zip replacement, but sending it back to Eastman is currently not an option as I live in Belgium. Does anyone have tips on a great repairer based in the EU?

Yes, there are some here but as the windflap and the triangle reinforcement probably need to be temporarily removed I’d like an absolute expert, not just someone who does leather jackets as an ‘extra’ (as they won’t have the right threads/sewing machines)
I will definitely take a look at that link (though my Swedish is non-existent haha)

Contact the riders room here in Hamburg. They have someone who is amazing at repairing leather jackets. It isnt cheap but worth it. You can text them or call. I am sure they know English.

If you can’t find someone local, this guy Adolfo in Stockholm can definitely do that. The zip replacement he did for me was a on a cross zip jacket, so he had to remove the wind flap. The repair job looks great.

But I would start looking around locally and see if I could find MC repair shops. Even if they don’t specialise in jackets, there should be someone locally who do repair jobs for MC gear? Like saddle bag repairs and stuff like that. If someone can do that, surely they would be able to replace a zipper on a jacket. Are there no bikers in Belgium?

I did find someone, but I'm afraid the type of needle they use (from the pictures I've seen from handbags) would punch big holes in the jacket, something I want to avoid at all costs. If that gentleman in Sweden can do a great job, I'm sending it to him to avoid being unhappy with the repair. First I need to buy a NOS talon from Mash though

Maybe a good idea: I had a local bootmaker do a zipper replacement on an Aero CXL. He did a very good job. Sourcing a proper zipper is essential, of course, but I tend to believe that if you have the craftmanship for boots, you may well be qualified for leather jacket repairs. Comes at a price, of course...

That is a great tip, in fact I just looked around for bootmakers and found exactly what I was looking for; a maker that uses the existing holes with a fine needle. Awesome, thanks for the advice!

Nowadays internet is a tool of great help, but sometimes it is our worst enemy, because it binds us in the search for shops and services, which we would easily find taking a walk near the our house.
For the service you are looking for (and that you have already found) you could ask in a shoe repairshop, or from a tailor: very often they themselves do this type of work, or they can give useful advice.

Exactly, problem is that these services are often not that connected with fora or enthousiasts, which means they can be looked over though they provide what we are looking for. Interesting paradox

Awesome!

I must say, I would not have gone down that route myself had not the very bookmaker literally cut me out of the jacket when the zipper busted in full flight. He then proceeded to admire the jacket and offered to change the zipper himself.
