Max, where is the hat?
Must be a cool find.. Bill is right about the time frame, but based on the liner I'd say a little later in the period, probably early fifties. I have one with the same code number on the label on the upper left. Mine is a lunasca 39 1/2 model. The number in the upper right is close as well (mine is 45620). The colour of mine is amarena.

"Echter Borsalino" Homburg for the German market in "Argento"
Something that has never happened to me before with my size 59:
Hat was listed as 58/59 cm and it doesn't fit because it is way too big!
Size 7 Punti (!) with the crown at the dent at 11 cm, bound brim at 5 cm
This huge beauty is in great condition except for minor discolouration
on the lining and it is also stamp-dated: 17. Juli 1941
That fits perfectly the shop where it was sold - Max Eckard, Berlin -
which did not survive WWII (as Steve once noted).
Something that has never happened to me before with my size 59:
Hat was listed as 58/59 cm and it doesn't fit because it is way too big!
Size 7 Punti (!) with the crown at the dent at 11 cm, bound brim at 5 cm
This huge beauty is in great condition except for minor discolouration
on the lining and it is also stamp-dated: 17. Juli 1941
That fits perfectly the shop where it was sold - Max Eckard, Berlin -
which did not survive WWII (as Steve once noted).

Simeon Zlateff Borsalino Trionfo. Unfortunately, no paper tag. It does have the tiny lettering in the golden line under "Borsalino" on the sweatband. That makes it pre-war, correct?

I magnified the tiny lettering right on the golden line under "Borsalino" stamp on the sweatband.
I read "FABBRICA DI CAPPELLI ALESSANDRIA".
I don't think the lettering appears on the older models. @steur ?

Max, Great find! I agree with Daniele but could also be very early 1940s. It's in the same time period as Matt's latest find.

It may be that Borsalino managed to ship the goods to Eastern Europe until 1942, then I think it was very difficult. The two Homburgs I have from the same seller are very similar, especially one to Max's. I must say that their construction is a bit "heavy" for Borsalino hats of the period, but perhaps this was a request from the seller.

Daniele, Matt's Echter Borsalino could be earlier because the date stamp was applied by the store (my three older Max Eckhards Echter Borsalinos are all date stamped). Some Echter Borsalinos from this time period and early are on the heavy side. The three Max Eckhard Echter Borsalinos (date stamped 1929) I mentioned have heavier weight felt.
Finally got round to posting this one in the Brotherhood. The very green Borsalino I picked up recently in a Dobbs' box.
Sadly no labels under the sweat, but the liner suggests 50s to me.
At one point, I think this was owned by a lady. The brim was flipped down at the back and up at the front. Pinches were also added at the back in order to make it the front and therefore have the ribbon on the left.
Not my first green hat, but my first green Borsa.

Very nice find, Max. The lettering is found on the sweatband stamps for the American market hats. As far as I know all the ones in the 1936-1953 period have this stamp.
