Interesting jacket. The 35" would be from the top of the shouder at the neck hole.

I recall when they introduced the cowhide (smooth) version of this and not being a big fan of it in this style. This roughout looks 100% better! If this is cut the same as thier cotton cruisers, the Medium will be generous of cut.

apologies for the confusion. the 35" is from the center of the neck hole, as stated above. i've attached a picture showing the measurement from the shoulder seam. about 25 1/4".

for reference on size, i'm just over 208 lbs with a 44 chest. i wear a Large in their short lined cruiser, but a Medium here. chest is perfect for a light thermal layer. if i were to wear a thicker sweater under this, i'd want a little more give. the Filson reps told me the Large Roughout chest measurement is 24 1/4 p2p, and that's just too big for me. my personal opinion is that this jacket is better with a fitted look.

Aero_Fan07, i agree about the smooth cowhide, both in appearance and in fit. it didn't fit as well, so i passed on it. this jacket is more rugged and more utilitarian.

also, the color is much closer to the outdoor shots in which i'm wearing it. not sure what the hell is going on with the camera indoors, but it is muting the tan tone markedly

i bought two at a slight discount, figuring i would keep one and sell the other at a somewhat slighter discount to someone else who wanted one!
