Hats off to everyone up in here..so ive been searching high and low for a pair of braces that kinda come close to a pair of the Shirley President ones (minus the intricate detail in the back)..so i watched this 1930's period Danish/Norwegian flick about kids sent away to a reform school and this still is from that movie, the guy to the left but especially the guy on the extreme left is wearing a pair of braces with very long elastic cord ends..i was wondering where i could find a pair like those, they could be repro's but who knows. Anyway what i was after more than anything else is a pair of braces, in a striping pattern of the 20's/30's, with extra long cord ends like those. Any clues cheerfully accepted.

Mullit - thanks for the tip but it doesnt quite "measure up"..i think i'm going to have to wait till a vintage one turns up somehow somewhere..i know RRL makes a passable pair as well.

Alec- Thanks for the tip..but i actually have a box full of original vintage "Y" braces by Hickok/Pioneer etc. Its the cord ends that does it for me..there's a Japanese guy in Japan doing repro President braces but prices are close to $400 a pop..not yet willing to part with that much doe for a repro. I think i might just consider making my own cord ends..if i can only figure out where to source the cord and the crimping metal pieces..better yet, finding original suspender parts would be fantastic..that Japanese guy i mentioned actually uses period cord pieces (he found deadstock 1920's french cord ends somewhere).

Blackadder- Yea dry bones one not my cup of tea but i had stumbled on that other japanese brand doing the suspenders but not very user friendly as his site is strictly japanese..what would be great is if he's willing to part with just the vintage cord ends, i think i want to build my own..just not happy with what i see and quite frankly cant fork out $$$ for them.
