I've had something on my mind I have wanted to share. There is a middle-aged fellow who lives in my area with some mental/behavioral challenges. He works at a rural gas station and lives in an apartment above the store. He cannot drive and can often be seen walking unbelievable distances over steep roads just to get to the grocery store. It's jacket weather here at least 6 months out of the year. Every time I see him, I say to myself, "Dang, I wish he was remotely close to my size so I could give him one of my jackets." I've had my eye open for a nice jacket at the Goodwill that I can give to him.

There are people who have never owned, nor ever will own a nice jacket. While we are obsessing over 1/4 inch of material on our jacket, someone out there would LOVE to have that problem. Trust me, it will give you much more joy giving a jacket to a needy person than it will ever give you looking at it hang in your closet. I would love to see a thread dedicated to this...a "fit" picture of a needy person in their new leather jacket, given to them by one of us. Call me crazy.

LW is much higher- RD and Carlos own more than that individually lol.

I thought the same thing and reread the OP:

"I will assign points for each entry, ie #1=3 points, #2=2 points, #3= 1 point. Then it will simply be a matter of adding up the points. I can add up individual jacket numbers, too. I'll probably end up with a "Top 10" brands."
So even though RD and I have a bunch of LW jackets and LW jackets are what we have most it still only counts as 6 points.
The dude with 36 Aeros is still also only worth 3 points.
It seems like a fair way of figuring out what is popular, it removes the advantage a brand would get from people with a bunch of jackets.

Exactly, Carlos840. I didn't want one person's huge collection to skew the data. Based upon the points system, Aero is #1 and Vanson is #2 so far. Those results are in alignment with the number of people who identified those brands as most highly represented in their collections(11 have Aero number 1 or tied for #1 and Vanson has 5). In other words, the point scheme is proving to be a good indicator of overall brand popularity.

One way to think about it. If we looked in each Lounger's closet, which brand would we be most likely to see?

Ultimately, I plan to report total number of jackets as well. That is where your big numbers will come into play and will help the cause of Vanson and LW.

Well....@Coriu
When the survey period ends and you award the Oscar for Most Prevalent Brand you can just award Oscars for subcategories.
Like, Best Supporting Brand, Baddest Ass Small Collection, Collection Most Likely to Cause a Riot, Jacket Most Likely to Require a Security Force, just like on TV.
I look forward to the annual Convention.

That is TOO funny. I'm actually picturing the show in my head. We have to come up with a clever name for the awards to replace "oscars." Seriously, we could have some fun with this.

Missing in action
1. Himel Bros. -- 4 jackets
2. Good Wear -- 2 jackets
3. Buco / Freewheelers / Real McCoys / Fine Creek Leathers / RRL -- 1 jacket each

(I also have a smattering of leather jackets from Madison Avenue brands -- e.g., Loro Piana, Zenga, and Purple Label -- that I stopped wearing years ago and are stored away for posterity).

I love the fulsome leather jacket collections assembled by several people here. Genuinely impressive. I personally do not collect leather jackets. Rather, I only own leather jackets that I wear with sufficient regularity. Given my relatively warm local climate, the number of leather jackets I currently own is already excessive and limits the frequency with which I wear each jacket. Therefore, as much as I might love to add another -- perhaps a brown deerskin Thedi -- I resist for the simple reason that having unused jackets gathering dust in my closet does not bring me pleasure. Rather, wearing jackets brings me pleasure and, in order to ensure adequate usage, I must temper the quantity.

Aero - 7
Schott - 4
Vanson - 1

Except vanson, which is a X150, remaining 11 jackets are all CXL(HH or SH)

5 of these are cross zips(2 Aero, 2 Schott and 1 Vanson)

I'd like to think I'm more utilitarian than a collector, but I definitely have those tendencies. At the moment I have:

1: 3 Vansons, 2 casual, 1 armored moto

2: 2 Aeros

3: 1 Schott

I have a couple other armored motorcycle leathers, and a couple random casual leather jackets. Constantly looking for more. I feel like I need a Bates, and a Cal, and so on... So much for utilitarian.
