Hats and Drinks - A Match Made in Heaven

Great lighting & composition.

I drink most everything neat but I recently had to finish a bottle of Del Maguey Mezcal OTR to take that burning tire smoke that I just didn’t care for.

Thanks Jack. Just available light in my kitchen

this is a super cheap “JD clone” called Ten High from our local BJs that I’ve developed a taste for. Technically a Kentucky bourbon… but it’s made to favor a JD sour mash style.

Terrific pic. The sweat on the bottle makes me thirsty.

Monday evening, home before the sunset I took the opportunity to sip an Omni Hefeweizen. Excellent beer for a late warm evening.

Up and starting my day before the sun rises I needed some coffee. The pic shows the fatigue in my eyes. Some Caribou Brazil (medium roast) hit the spot.

Home after a dog soire cold brewed coffee was refreshing. I am really going through cold brew this summer.

Bah mi Thit Nuóng and Phò Hài Sàn was on my breakfast menu.

Home picking up essential groceries found me cooling off with a Omni sour IPA.

Many chores completed, shower and needed change of clothes found me cooling off with another Omni sour IPA.

Outside chores done(for today)! I cooled off during my efforts by dunking my Sunbody hat in the water a couple of times. Exactly what was needed. I celebrated by an Omni Malt IPA.

It is warm in my neighborhood today and I have sweated off the coffee, water and beers. I look forward to propping my feet up in a bit.

Thanks Eric. What a lineup of hats and drinks you have today. Was thinking of you earlier today when watching the Olympic men’s gymnastics. Cheers

Catching up on the Olympics by watching them on my deck with a cup of Caribou's Costa Rican (light roast). Caribou has not had this coffee for a looong time and it is truly a treat this morning. Our early morning sunrise temp was 64'f (18'c) and made everything so pleasant and comfortable.

Ran errands already and cooked a quiche and made a fruit compote to take over to a friends house to re-watch and watch Olympic competitions. I sipped a Ballast Point IPA while preparing and cooking.

Lovely beer for imbibing before 8:00 am.

Enjoying a couple of afternoon drams of a Glenmorangie Lasanta 12 on this National Scotch Day every July 27th. This is a NBD for me, I love the 18 & bought another bottle for back stock & @Desert dog loves the 10 so I wanted to try the 12 yr old Lasanta. Aged in Bourbon casks, finished in Oloroso & Xeres Sherry casks.

Definitely an aperitif/cordial or bedtime dram of Scotch IMO. Tastes of maple, pecans or maple pecan, raisins, maybe some vanilla, Bourbon & sweet Sherry. Not complicated or complex, very smooth. Some cinnamon in the short aftertaste.

National scotch day - man a day late and dollar short! I will make up for time later this week. Cheers to scotch and scotch drinkers.

Yesterday I took off early to get home before the sun set. I enjoyed a Surley Supreme. This tart and crisp taste hit the spot after a warm day.

i-3zN6GNV-M.jpg

Tonight I am finally home and watching more Olympic coverage. My sleep time gets challenged between work and Olympic coverage. I am sipping a Surley Haze Me Up Before You Go, Go. This evenings temps are still in the 80'f (27'c). Brutal heat for my neighborhood. This beer is thirst quenching.

"This easy-drinking ale delivers the fruit-forward hop flavor and round mouthfeel of a hazy IPA, but with a light body and sessionable strength." https://surlybrewing.com/beer/haze-me-up-before-you-go-go/

Celebrating completing my term one classes and continuing my exploration of bourbon whiskeys. A taste comparison with Maker’s Mark, Buffalo Trace and the recently purchased Knob Creek. I’d always considered bourbons and the like to be the poor cousins of scotch. Truth be told, I still prefer the big Islay and Skye scotches, but I realise now that the American whiskies are not so destitute as I had imagined. Etsuko and I have enjoyed all three immensely.

The hat is my Bailey paper that I have been wearing to work of late.

I got a couple of heavy 10 sided half pint "The Lantern Tankard" Beer Mugs popular in the 1920s, 30s and 40's. Hot day today. Beer or Root Beer? Well...
Original Big Brother Hard Root Beer in a frosted mug. (Big Brother Brewing in La Crosse, Wisconsin.) I purchased six 12 oz. bottles for $8.00 at Aldi's.
Dark, very sweet 5.8% by volume... might make for a nice float if I had a dollop of vanilla ice cream on hand... I can't help but hear Moe Howard offering me a Sarsaparilla :p
