I have been wearing this hat for the past 3 and half weeks as I am vacationing in Hawaii. It is nothing special but it provides me with awesome protection from the sun being that I am melanin deficient I burn quite easily. The hat itself is a no-name brand that is made in China in a one-size-fits many but I am super happy with this $23 purchase and love it. I will take it back to Washington state with me and use it for yard work. It has an elastic fabric sweatband I will replace it with a fitted leather sweatband hand sewing in when I am done vacationing.

It is somekind of cross between a western hat and a "chinamen" hat (sorry for my ignorance as I do not know what those traditional hats are called).

I do not know that it was woven with but here are the rough dimensions that I am guesstimating as I do not have a measuring device.

Crown: 7-1/2 inches
Brim: 7-1/2 inches

The wind cord on this is awesome and has saved the hat on multiple occasions.

Nice! It's very, very similar to one I wear while mowing. I love it as it protects me from the sun. However after 3 or 4 seasons I've now sweated thru it and it's gonna have to be retired.

I plan to sew on a tan or gold 1 1/4” ribbon later. View attachment 357027 Would pin on a pair of crossed swords, but don’t want to go over the top, since I’m not a Civil War
re-enactor.
That's a very nice hat Randall. But now I must see the top, side and front angle shots.
Only 'cuase I think it's a great looking hat. I want to fully appreciate it's lines.
I really like the tall crown center dent no pinch look. Beautiful.

Thanks.
I put a little roll to the brim edge. I don’t care for a full roll.
Also put the brim in a flange, since when I got this hat it was flat.
Also had a cattleman’s crease so had to steam the dents out. I didn’t use a hat block, but I’m considering it, since the crown has just a bit more taper than I like. Just a lot of trouble, since ya have to take out the sweatband and liner to use a block correctly. The taper isn’t too awful bad...
For this particular hat style I like the crown creased this way, too.
Thanks again, Rick.

It’s resurrection still amazes me. Great work!
Thanks, Brent.
Glad you like it cause I bought another one just like it that’s also a size 7 mid 50s 7X CB two days ago.
Good price and it’s only got some dirty spots on it that’ll likely come out in the process of cleaning and reblocking .
At least the new one doesn’t look as if shotgunned with number 5 pellets like this one was!

My birthday is coming up...next year.
I’d be very happy with one of the nutria softies, but set up just like your VS.
Just trying to help, so you won’t make a bad gift choice. :)
