This one hurts. Charlie Watts, drummer for the Rolling Stones, has died at the age of 80 according to his publicist. "He passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today surrounded by his family." The statement added: "We kindly request that the privacy of his family, band members and close friends is respected at this difficult time."

That's a tough one, for sure. I had just read recently he dropped out of the upcoming tour for some surgery or treatment.

One day after Keith Moon's birthday.

Back in the early '80 at work we used to play a rock trivia game by taking turns naming groups with siblings.
To easy to cheat now.
I hope you remembered the Bee Gees, a music group formed in 1958, featuring brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. The trio were especially successful as a popular music act in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and later as prominent performers of the disco music era in the mid- to late 1970s. They were all to have early deaths:
Andy, the youngest Gibb brother, had a solo career, died in 1988 aged just 30. Maurice died at the age of 53, and Robin died in 2012 at 62, after a protracted battle with cancer. And Barry, who has never spoken about his loss, is clearly haunted by their deaths.

But Andy Gibb destroyed himself by drugs.

But Andy Gibb destroyed himself by drugs.
So did a lot of people in the "entertainment" industry. Just take a look at the "27 Club" list; even if the cause of death doesn't say "drug overdose" if you look into those deaths more often than not drugs contributed to them. Andy Gibb was 30 when he died, not 27, but he might as well have been on that list. I don't think it makes much difference; the depression he was suffering from during the last years of his life is a very difficult thing to overcome for most people and he would probably have found another way to die young even if he hadn't already damaged his heart through years of cocaine abuse.

Yep, Greek composer & politician, Mikis Theodorákis has died aged 96.
A fervent opponent of the dictature of the Greek junta (1967-1974) which led to his imprisonment & his music being banned in Greece at the time but he is prehaps best known for his soundtrack to 'Zorba the Greek ' (1964)
