Nothing special, but a solid simple western.

New to me early 70s 3 x beaver Stetson. Sadly, there's no model name anywhere to be seen, so would appreciate any input as to what type of Stetson this is.
I've posted more photos and info in the "Post New Hats" View attachment 363117 View attachment 363118 View attachment 363119 thread.
Yep. Revenger. I don’t know how old mine is, but looks the same. I always thought this was a fairly recent hat. Like it, but don’t wear it much. No reason why.

It looks like the buckle on the hat band is going in opposite direction on our two hats.

Thanks for the input Mm. It does seem like the buckle on mine has been put on the wrong way now you mention it.

Here's a 4X Resistol that a fellow lounger gave to me. It started out as a size 6 7/8 so, obviously, I have to block it up a few sizes. For now, I plan to keep it Western. Unless I change my mind I'll be giving this one a Cattleman crease with a slightly "Cowboy" curled 3 inch brim. I don't plan for it to be a spectacular stand out, but rather having more of a clean and crisp profile.

I love seeing your transformations......it is akin to magic. I love making hats but there is just something so satisfying about refurbishing an old hat into something else or restoring vintage it to its former glory. Great work, as always.

Thank you BB! You're definitely right. There's something about bringing these old hats back to life. Although, I think I'd still like to build some from raw hat bodies, though. There just doesn't seem to be too many of you guys left who are still building hats these days. It's good to see you following the fine art and doing well at it.

I hope I live long enough to get good at it. Every time I make a hat I am humbled by how much I don't know and how much there is left to learn.

I did Roofing for a good number of years, and no matter how long I was doing it, there was always something new to learn. I think that goes with just about everything we do. With that said, you get great reviews on your hats from people you've made them for, so you must be pretty good at it.

Thank you. I am feeling more confident and thinking I at least have gained a degree of competency.

I umpired baseball at a high level for many many years, doing as many as 120 games a season. My goal was to always call a game perfectly, no missed strikes, no bad calls, no out of position calls where I got lucky and made the right call ins spite of myself. I came close on a few occasions but never in my mind did I ever do it perfectly. My inner joke; if I ever did call a game perfectly I would walk off the field, change into my civvies and burn my umpire gear....never to do another game....ever. Never got to do that! I just quit cuz I got too old!

A while back Brent posted his Stagecoach which he had removed the macrame band from. Reminded me that I had never got around to doing so on mine. Pulled it off today and put some gold cords on. You can see the fade from the old band, but I think I’ll wear it like this for a bit.
