TCM Star of the Month: Rita Hayworth

I am excited for this. I have only seen a couple of movies Rita was in and I really enjoyed them so I will be looking forward to seeing some more.

Tomorrow kicks it off with Only Angels Have Wings with Cary Grant (1938) followed by a documentary on her. :eusa_clap

TCM Star of the month:Rita Hayworth

I have always seen her "Stills" but never knowingly seen her movies. I finally had
a chance to see her as Dagwoods ex-girl friend in the "Blondie" series. Wow
what a Dish ! This is before Actresses were cosmetically enhanced . Penny
Singleton also gave her a run for her money.

I thought Hayworth was great in "Gilda." She not only acts, but sings and plays guitar. Surely, they'll show this one.

That's wonderful! If I am very lucky, my mom will record some of the films for me.

It was a thrill recently to see Affair in Trinidad on the big screen in San Francisco. At the end of each of Rita's two dance numbers in that picture, the audience burst into applause! It was really sweet.

I am beyond excited about Rita being TCM's star of the month.
I find her so exciting to watch on screen. She was her own
gal through and through.

I have known two people who had come across her path while
she was suffering from alzheimers and unfortunately at the time
it was not known that she was suffering from it so they just assumed
she was sloshed.

One incident was on a plane, and the other was at a dinner.
It was indeed sad...I just saw some old home movies with
her in them today and one looked to have taken place in the
early 1960s. She was so happy and giddy ~ Very playful.

Rooster, The Outlaw is a great movie, I like it too... but isn't it Jane Russell who acts in it? hmmmm... I think it is, then again may be there is another movie called Outlaw out there.... [huh]

I'm not a huge Rita fan, but it's always neat seeing actresses in their early days, often before they were very famous!

I watched the documentary of her yesterday on TCM. Such a beautiful and classy woman. Even when faced with all those tragedies and heartbreaks, she kept her head high.

I too caught this on TCM, a classy woman for sure, and the heartbreaks, those press photos were awful, terrible thing to do to her and her family, I hope the press slept well, to quote a John Lennon song, "How do you sleep?" Tragic indeed

I too watched it and it left me quite sad. I felt such heartbreak for her after another, and another marriage just fell flat. I wished she could have found someone that really suited her and loved her truly.

I also wish she had found happiness after so many failed marriages, but she lived her life to be, dancing seems to have been her real love since early childhood.
Its sad and tragic loss we all felt, but not as terrible as Veronica Lake, (now that was a heart break ending, I still am shocked by it all) but still terrible, Rita had family to look after her, glad some one was there to care for her.
Always give thanks for the simple things in life and for heaven sake, Live!!!
