Great first fedora. Love to hear your thoughts compared to western felts.

Nice! Don’t expect all fedoras to match that Twenty.

Yeah, it’s a real nice hat. Been looking for something like this for awhile and kinda lucked into it without spending much money. It’s very lightweight compared to my western hats. Beautiful color to it. Glad to add into the collection, and I’m certain it’s just the first fedora, not the last.

Returned a short time ago from visiting one of my doctors. Sitting on the back porch now enjoying the breeze, with my 2 buddies! I always wear my fine Rick Walker of Phoenix Hats fedora in silverbelly to this particular doctor visit. The nurses always just go on about it and how good it looks on me. Ok, I know, they are just being nice to the “old man”, but that’s ok to me. I enjoy the attention even if it’s just BS. And after all, BS is what makes the world go ‘round!! 5D8C5646-B8AD-4F8C-A1F6-15809ECDDE20.jpeg

Thanks, Joe. Well spotted about the Berteil. Quite late in the day for a Cavanagh edge (or as the Italians would have it: feltrato): the hat is from 1981. I did expect this from the bowler either; very odd. Glad it decided to go back to original size though.
That sure is. From most of the hats I’ve come across. Seems most of the US factories hand felted edge phased out end of the 60s. I’m sure there are exceptions. I think I did see a custom hatter that says he can do them. Not sure how he is doing it.

It's on my wish list. Light weight, unlined and great shape: love it.
A hat I maybe forgot how much I enjoy. After more than a year since I got it I maybe have warmed up more to the wider brim. Still kicking myself for tearing the sweat.

Wearing my latest conversion project. This one started out as a too small 6 7/8 4X Resistol Western. I blocked it up to a 7 1/4 LO to fit me. I gave it a simple Center Dent with a tight pinch. As creased, the crown is 5 inches tall overall and is 4 1/2 inches at the pinch with a rake sloping to 4 inches in the back, and has a nice crisp profile. I found a beat up 1 5/8 ribbon and bow in my scrap pile and tried to rework it the best I could. I had to use it because it was all I had that matched the hat. I was lucky to make it work. The brim is 2 5/8 inches and was flanged on a #19 brim flange. The #19 is slightly flatter than my preferred #810 flange. I'll have more on this hat later in the Conversion Corral.

Under different lighting. This does not represent the true color of the hat. Pictures above are more the actual color.
