Thanks. It’s closer to the Open Road than the Stratoliner, but still quite a bit different. It has a raw brim edge and a skinny one-cord crown ribbon with standard western knot (no bow). I also think/hope the brim is a bit wider than the standard OR. It’s coming from less than 150 miles away so hopefully I won’t have to wait long.

Fascinating. Although Knox and Dobbs were both Hat Corporation of America acquisitions, it looks like the Dobbs sweat might have been used to replace the original. That’s my guess.
I did not even know there was a Knox Jaguar model. It looks cool.

Yeah, but you have to have an Open Road as back up because the Jag's always in the shop.
And you know if it ever breaks it'll be at least $2k to fix anything wrong with the Jag.

My buddy treated himself to an older Jag. When I chided him on such a poor choice he responded by saying he finally had enough money to afford to drive one..........purchasing it was never the issue but having enough money to take the taxis required when it breaks down.

Been there done that.. when I bought my 97 XK8 in 2005 with only 24,000 miles on it… I thought how did they only drive it a few thousand miles a year. When I sold it 15 years later it had only 40K Spent a lot more time in the shop or the driveway awaiting the shop than it did the road.
I always remember Dion Sanders referring to Fred Taylor, running back for the Jacksonville Jaguars…. “Jaguars is the perfect team for Fred… he looks GREAT… but he’s always in the shop!”
I owned a Land Rover for a few years, it's a very similar ownership experience. Never left us stranded, but any time you take it to the shop it costs a small fortune.

Very true… and it’s not just the cost…. Most folks don’t even know how to work on them… and even worse they don’t know that they don’t know. If I hadn’t found my “Jag guy” I would never have been able to own mine.
Come to think of it… I don’t think it ever left me stranded either…. But I remember him telling me.. I have two kinds of customers…. One comes in and gets maintenance and it costs them about 2K a year. The other arrives on a tow truck and it’s 6K
Yep always took mine to a Land Rover specialist shop in Vancouver, an hour drive for any service, but they were good guys and knew what they were doing.

Glad I'm a Ford & Chevy truck kinda guy! I do allot of my own wrench'n so I just go to my local "pull-a-part" yard and keep'm truck'n

So...Ford & Chevy, Stetson & Resistol, I'm just to dang practical.
I have a 1987 Jaguar XJ6. As long as you do the mechanic work yourself it's not that bad.And you know if it ever breaks it'll be at least $2k to fix anything wrong with the Jag.
If anyone comes across a real Knox Jaguar in dark grey or black, 7-1/4, I'm interested.

Back in the time of the XJ Salons there was a shop here who was converting them over to a complete GM drive train with computer & all using new Corvette crate motors, etc. He was selling them customer direct & thru dealers throughout the country.
