Not sure if it's going down. They apparently removed a stucco layer so far. Someone later posted a colorized 1937 photo showing the Conoco station with the "cabins" sign and an earlier Coca-Cola sign.

I suspected that the Lafayette Coke sign had seen updates over its life.
The “It’s the Real Thing” slogan came later than the late 1940s/early ’50s speculated date of the sign. The slogan, according to an apparently reliable source, dates from 1969.

A couple of area signs. Not my photos. This must have been a regional drink. One sign (in Niangua, MO) shows "Lebanon" which is a town NE of Springfield, MO.

Conway, Missouri. This former Lincoln, Ford & Fordson (tractor) dealership now houses the local Senior Center. They stopped building Fordson tractors in the USA in 1928.
We were having breakfast at the Rocking Chair Cafe out on the interstate when the waitresses excused themselves to go out and hold up balloons and banners to greet the small parade of fire trucks, local police vehicles, family and (oddly) a white hearse from the local “haunted house” attraction. They were celebrating the 100th birthday of “Mom C” (who was riding shotgun in the lead fire truck and waving to everyone while wearing a gold crown). We were indoors, but waved anyway.
A couple of other old signs in the small town of 782.
Oh … if you get a chance to stop in at the Rocking Chair Cafe, try the “Famous Fresh Side” with your eggs. Deep fried fresh pork belly. Good stuff …
