A bad day, or days, I suppose.

Yeah…his reaction came out of nowhere and was way over the top, but I only saw the public version. I’ve always gotten along with Doug, but I felt he was expecting to get banned and went ahead with a personal attack that was obscene and uncalled for. He’s selling a lot of felt hats on eBay right now. I sent him a message through eBay and he said he and his wife are moving to Florida and he won’t need many felt hats.

I wish him well, but he’s burned some bridges and I don’t think we’ll see him here again.

Here on the continent ( E.U. ) things keep getting crazier regarding Govenments imposing harsher lockdown restrictions. At some point the regularly held (peaceful) protest marches
will turn violent if things don't change soon.

I think he thought I reported his previous post to the moderators who blocked it. I didn't, though, and I wouldn't have done it if I were a moderator...
He was also banned in a couple of FB forums for using the same language. To my surprise, he made several shockingly racist remarks in a conversation there.
I used to really like him. I guess I didn't know him at all. All that pent-up anger...

I never saw the racist comments…kind of glad I didn’t. I liked him too and would rather remember him as a better man than that.

Has anyone hear from David @jonesy86 ?
I miss his Hawaii photos. Hope he’s well.

He last posted April 13th in the jacket section.
To add to this, he’s still around.
I believe he moved in Hawaii, but is still there, i think maybe he might have married?? or became a couple with another Lounger in Hawaii, @madhu, a fine woman as it were.
Quite possibly he found other things to do in Paradise but he does keep an eye out.
Right @jonesy86??
Please do correct me if i’m wrong.

Brent, Michael A's Flickr account is active with his most recent post yesterday. I seem to recall that in a post a few months ago that he was focusing on more nature photography. He may just be taking a break from hats for a while or just busy with other projects. I tend to be much busier this time of year and post far less in the summer than I do during the winter.
Very late response.

Hey Dave, you being the master researcher that you are, do you know @Michael A’s Fiickr or FB user name, or any of the other Social Media sites he may have used?
For that matter, does anybody know them or have any contact info for him?
Same goes for Ed, @Desert dog??

I’ve tried DMs for both several times but no joy?

SOME THOUGHTS:

We all really need to establish some kind of an info/contact buddy(ies) system where we have trusted lounge friends with complete contact info that can reach out and check up on MIA’s.
We would be doing each other a public and personal service should some ultimate demise shorten our moment on earth.
Instructions and wishes to our family to reach out to Lounge contact buddies and notify us of departures would help alleviate some of the burden they are forced to deal with.

I know if i drop dead tomorrow i’d RIP knowing a lounge buddy(ies) would reach out to my family to deal with “the hat thing” instead of them garbage bagging them for trash day or donating to Goodwill for Halloween costumes.
The truth is our hats, in the scheme of things, will likely not be cherished and passed down like a family heirloom x 100s. They will be a bewildering burden to a family cleaning up Dad’s or Grandpa’s mess.
I’ve done that and what we loved and cherished does not translate to survivors.
Good, cool stuff gets trashed by necessity.

I hate to think of the many anonymous passings here, the loss of the priveledge to say a final prayer for the souls of those we cared for most importantly!!
And then the hat collections…..gone to the winds.
Think about it.

I’ve tried to find Ed a few times. I believed he lived in Barstow, California and he was a retired equipment operator. He was involved in making custom leather products, including holsters, and worked at the Calico ghost town. I’m not very competent at searches, but I’ve never found Ed online. I miss him and I liked the meekness he approached things with. I hope he’s well.

Yes, I am already checking Iowa City obits.
Does anyone have any other information about him. Has anyone bought or sold a hat to him?
I gave him a liner once & I had his address. It was a rental & when I tried to find him sometime back he was no longer living there. So I discarded that address & no longer have it.
