anybody grab one of these yet from Bronson? Was getting really close to ordering the N1 Deck Jacket and then saw this submarine version. Main difference seems to be 100% wool vs blend and also the wool doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the jacket. And no USN stencil. Probably better for me living in Los Angeles with the half back liner coverage. But it's also almost double the price.

yo buddy. I think that one might be different as well. Here's the shot that caught my eye on the one currently listed on Bronson site:

I like how the wool portion only goes about 3/4 down. Although I'm wondering how warm full wool vs. 70% wool blend is. Living in Los Angeles that could help get some more wears out of it. I also noticed this one has a thicker cotton vs the regular N1, the one at $179 (and Bronson has another N1 at the $109 price point that I think is even thinner and might be completely non wool)

It does look nice. I prefer the non-stencil versions too but could go either way.

I feel like the nylon/wool blend would be harder wearing and likely less itchy but not as warm as the all wool.

The question is...when would you choose to wear this over one of your sheepskin??

I know seriously. Especially since I'm always on the hunt for a redskin d1 and then now there will be a lot of "cold" weather jackets competing in a non cold weather climate LOL. Although, like I've said before, I'm really surprised how much I wear my shearlings. Not needing to layer up I think makes them more practical because they work in short bursts. And I've basically trained myself now to grab a jacket before I grab a sweater, even when just lounging around the house. I think that's the only thing keeping me sane and preventing me from panic and selling off like 10 jackets LOL. Because really, does anyone need more than 4 or 5?

I just remembered a couple years back Costco was selling these Levis jackets that were basically styled like an N1 but they had quilted lining and a corduroy collar instead of fur. Great compromise for warmer weather. And sure enough, I have 2 in my closet, a khaki one and olive green. I forgot how cool these things are. They got lost in leather mania. This might scratch my jacket fascination of the week. But I think next time Bronson has a sale or if a size 40 pops up on classified, I might grab it. While I love the shearlings, I do feel myself babying them some and/or they don't lend themselves to physical activity, so the deck jacket would be more of a worker jacket I guess. And these Costco Levis ones are going to be good for spring and summer nights. I'll post some shots of them later. Really good grabs for like $50 if i recall.

They do look pretty similar don’t they, and they released them in the same three colors IH did this season. I have to say that I prefer the stitching around the pocket on the IH jacket over any other versions I have seen.
Same color alpaca. Same exact price. They also have very heavy flannels. I like their stuff but this seems blatant. Also they dont list very many measurements nor the sleeve lining

The sleeve lining is alpaca as well, they mention this in the description. This would be nice and toasty, but probably does not make it very easy to get the jacket on and off if you are wearing long sleeves.

that looks really nice.

Just as I was going to bite the bullet with the Bronson "regular" version ($179), they sold out of size 40 in Khaki. Sign from above I guess. Considering the submarine one, but at $295, my mind starts doing those exercises of "If you spend $300, why not spend x more and get a better one" LOL.

I put out a question to SM Wholesale because that looks like a killer deal at $300, so may go down that road. Wish there were more pics of it out in the wild. Iron Heart crossed my mind because of all the positive feedback here plus some great Youtube vids, but most sizes seem to be sold out. Buzz Rickson looks good, but notes about it being boxier probably kill it for me. Besides, Bronson keeps getting really positive nods and at the cheaper entry price, I can confirm a couple things before forking over much more cash. Now I just need to battle patience vs. winter weather winding down vs. do I really even need another jacket LOL (Noooooo, obviously).

Hey- I’m new to this thread but was wondering if anyone had opinions on the IH N1 versus Dehen N1? I just got the Dehen flight jacket and it is super nice and great quality, but only has a Sherpa collar so is nippy in NY winter. I feel like their N1 would be amazing if it is anywhere near their flight jacket, but man, it’s serious $$$. IH looks like a great alternative and is considerably less. Curious on peoples opinions on IH vs Dehen in quality and fit? I’m on the slim side so I usually swim in bulky coats. Thanks so much!

Dh is a heavier weight jacket for lower temp ranges. Ih is a nice product. Is it worth $2x a Pike bros or Bronson? That’s an individual decision. Unlayered my Ih works 30-50f. Most sizes in Dehen are currently sold out. I communicated with them and they are not restocking until fall. They rarely show up used. Several IH sizes are sold out but they tend to restock more frequently.

Thanks for the info. Winter is winding down so maybe I can get a used or sale Dehen…or start saving for next year :)

I own a Dehen N-1. I got it used from the classified section here.

The jacket’s mouton/shearling lining is THICK. I have to suck it in to zip it up. I would chalk it up to gaining some weight, but all my other shearling jackets fit me just fine. The external measurements match my other shearling size M and 40 jackets. So I really think it comes down to the Dehen having a very thick lining to it.

In the fit pic it looks like a good fit, but I’d honestly need and extra inch or two to comfortably zip it up. I can zip it up, but like I said, takes a bit of “sucking in the belly” to do so.

Said it before, that jacket is fire

Buck Mason has a waxed deck jacket. Next time I'm nearby a store, might go check it out. No way will be near this Dehen, but could be a good compromise.

I got my first Indigo N1 on the the IH outlet page on a whim, I figured If I didn’t like it I would exchange for something else. Well I absolutely loved it and that’s when I decided that I had to have a khaki one as well.
I waited patiently and checked the new arrivals every day until finally one day in November when they finally dropped. I managed to get my size before it sold out in the first couple hours. Far as I know the jacket is only restocked once a year so you might have some weeding to do if you really want one.
I do see smaller sizes pop up pretty regularly on eBay, but people are usually asking damn near full price for them and that doesn’t work for me.

I received the Submariner yesterday in size 42. Not sure about the fit yet. It's much roomier than the khaki and navy wool versions of the N1. Used to have the khaki in 42 and have the blue in 40 and that blue is a tad too small. The arms are not lined with wool. I like that the wool don't go over your ass. I've always felt that it not super practical and makes them feel a bit snug in that region...

Thank you! Room for layering as I'm a resident in Sweden. I think I will let it hang out for a couple of days since it's been rolled up in a small package for some days during the transport.
Can you share pictures of the lining? thanks!
