Where did you get an Indy Lighter, or did you make it? Any how, its all in the matter of public saftey, so I am cool with it. Also, what is even more scarier is that Smokey Mountain Knife Works sells ALL PLASTIC KNIVES!!!

I agree, I do swing a little(maybe a lot) socialist, but I have been to Isreal and their laws keep so many terroist off planes, that it is ok sacrificing so fredoms.

Dave,

Many cigars are shipped with cedar sheets separating the layers inside the box. Ask your local tobacconist to save them for you. Tearing the sheets into strips will give you an effective splint with which to light your cigar. Light the splint with a match or lighter and you are ready to ignite the cigar.

It's just the fact that our government lately is slowly chipping away at our rights in the name of "Homeland Security" and doing an ass-backward job of it too. Par for the course in Uncle Sam's efficiency.

Agreed, Chamorro. Ever since Homeland Security was formed, and they were tagging on retired military man after retired politician into jobs in the newly formed department at National and State levels, I was reminded of the Capt. 'Redlegs' character from the movie 'The Outlaw Josie Wales', who (to paraphrase) said 'once this one is run to ground, there's more to do down in Mexico. There's no end to doin' good!"

Reminds me of HS....they've closed the so called 'loopholes' to secure the homeland, but let's see what ELSE we can do....there's no end to doin' good!

It seems like a lot of the stuff done for the sake of 'National Security', where ever it is - is done to control 'internal' rather than 'externa'l threats- make the 'work' of the authorities easier...
Public Control, that kind of thing. The type of thing they did in England a few years back- the 'search and seizure' thing, where cops can do just that-
makes the cops' job easier I guess and at the same time- if you have nothing to hide, then what's the problem. But shutting down free speech and public gatherings- that's the stuff I don't like. And I don't need a lighter on a plane. Lighters are for smoking, and we shouldn't even be doing that I guess...

No offense taken guys- just interested...

To me, smoking in the passenger compartment isn't the issue. They now ban lighters even in checked luggage. What's the point of that? Who is the asinine twerp that decided that? If planes crashed because there were cigarette lighters in them, you wouldn't be able to get to the local market for all the aluminum wreckage all over the ground. This is just an egregious abuse of power.

Actually Holly, my lighter was checked in my bag. I intentionally checked my lighter so there wouldn't be a problem. Boy, did I feel foolish (and steamed) when I found the note!

They are $49 with shipping included and in my opinion, are the best on the market! I should get my new one tomorrow or Monday and believe me, this thing isn't going NEAR an airport!

If you're not needing a lighter per se, but would rather have a GREAT flashlight instead, check out RelicRaiders 'ziplite' that he can install INSIDE one of his great Zippos! I have two, and am awaiting a third as we 'speak'. They're re-engineered with super bright industrial LED's, and easily replaced button batteries. HIGHLY recommended by this writer! High regards!
