Wonderful news Goldleaf!

Well, my advice is that if you do have the money go ahead and get the dresses because if I remember right you are quite tall and dresses are harder to find for you? I say this because when my son was a month old I went to a vintage store and bought two dresses that I loved and could NO WHERE near get on, let alone zipped. And they were my motivation for sure! They now 78 pounds later, they fit and in fact the one is a bit big! But I only spent about $30 on them total.

However if money is tight, just move on. I'm sure you'll find something else you love later!

Have fun maternaty clothes shopping!!

When I was picking out names for my baby, the father got to pick a boy name and I got to pick out the girls name. I had a girl and named her Rae Louise Fodor-Law. My grandmothers name is Mae Louise and mine is Erin Louise and my mom is Susan Louise. Everyone else has named their kids after my grandfather Glover Aaron. So of courseI wanted to be different and name my child with an old name but not one that kids would make fun of. Now that she is 8, she likes her name but we never can find anything personalized unless we do it special. She also realized that there is a boy verson of it.

I like the 3-2-1 thing, I wish I thought about that back then. Oh the boy's name would of been Nathen Alexander.

Be sure to take care of yourself through the next nine months!

Ps. To answer your question...get the dresses (in my opinion). You can feel good wearing them now and you will have them to look forward to after your babe is born!

well, I have to disagree !
I say buy them! They will be a good incentive!lol
Handy hint from me (mum to 11 yr old) Breast feed!!!!! It works better than any exercise or faddy diet. I ended up slimmer than before I was pregnant!
Plus it's sooooo good for baby!
Congratulations, enjoy plenty of 'me' time now though and savour every moment when little one arrives.

Congratulatons!;)

And I say buy the dresses - if you never fit in them again you could always sell them. But if you don't buy them then you will probably wished you had when it's too late and they are gone.

You all have been so very sweet! Thank you very much :D You wonderful ladies have made this time feel even more special for me.

And ladies, I love the stories behind the names you chose! And such beautiful names, too!

As soon as I have any fun information, I will certainly share! I didn't know that 8 months could feel so long, and so short at the same time!

Oh GoldLeaf congrats congrats! I know how much it means to you and your husband. And I'm so glad that it happened naturally and you didn't have to do any sort of fertility stuff.

Here's to a healthy happy pregnancy and I hope to be so lucky to make a similar announcement in six-eight months from now myself!

And I love the names! Gorgeous!

Congrats!!! Keep an eye out on the bay, i found a few maternity patterns that I snapped up, they show up every once and a while....I agree BUY!!!! At least you can look fabulous in them until they don't fit anymore and then you can look fabulous in maternity wear....
Now if only the condition were contagious......we've been trying for four years....although he'd have to be home long enough to get the job done :D

Goldleaf.

How are you feeling? Have you been hit with morning sickness at all? Hope not, but if so, it usually only lasts for the first three months. So thrilled for you and your husband!! Will this be the first grandchild for your folks or his?

I have been feeling great! I am one of the lucky 30% of women who don't get morning sickness! I do feel a bit nauseous if I let my stomach get empty, so I just don't let that happen lol

On Monday I had my first OB appointment, and we did an ultrasound. How amazing! I got to see my baby's heart beat for the first time! It was like magic! I had no idea that the heart beat would be visable so early! I was 7 weeks 4 days along on Monday, so my due date will be January 3rd (for what that is worth, hehe). I even got pictures of my 11 mm peanut :D

I was thrilled when my OB told me that once a heart beat is confirmed and the baby's location is correct (not in a tube) that the chance to miscarry drops from 25% to 2.5%. Yay! Just 4 more weeks to get out of the first trimester woods! For the first time, the pregnancy actually feels real. Since I don't have morning sickness, I have felt like I have been dreaming. I am hungry a lot, and I get fatigued, but those aren't so unique. Now I feel like it is really safe to dream :D

This baby will be the first great-grandchild for my grandparents, and the first grandchild for both of our parents. My husband and I are both only children, so our parents are thrilled. If we don't have a boy at some point, the Leaf family tree, at least this branch of it, will die. My father-in-law was the only boy child, and my husband is the only boy. No pressure there!

Many thanks again for all your well wishes! Eve - that video was too cute! I will try to remember not to diaper my baby's head :p lol

Hi Goldleaf thank you for keeping us updated about you and your baby. How exciting! I work with a gal that is due in September and she has found a website that you can go to and you can put in your due date and it will send you weekly updates as to how big your baby is every week, like this week she said her baby is over 11 inches big and last week the baby was the size of a large yam, before that it was the size of a large avocado. I work with her at the beginning of evey week and she is off at the end, so every week I ask "how big is your baby this week?" and she gives me an update. This website should be pretty easy to find but if you can't find it I can ask her for you if you are interested because it is fun to know what size the little one is along the way!

That is the name of the site.

I have ten friends that are pregnant with 13 babies (two sets of twins) and I feel that I've learned so much about it.

Also, there is this one DVD that I've been told every new mother MUST have--it's called "Happiest Baby on the Block" and it is a life saver. It's only 15 minutes long and my friend who was about to "return the baby" because she just couldn't deal had the kiddie sleeping within 10 minutes of watching the video.

What fun Goldleaf! I'm so glad to hear that your all is safe with your baby! Hurrah!

Holy baby showers, Batman! lol

Thanks for the recommendations, I will take all that I can get. Being an only child, I haven't spent much time around babies. No siblings, no nieces or nephews. I honestly don't even know what age kids start talking or get teeth or use a fork! :p I am just about done reading my pregnancy books, time to start on child development books!

Any suggestions on good books?

So I promised I would keep you guys up to day with what was going on :)

Yesterday I was officially 12 weeks, and I got to hear the baby's heartbeat. It was strong and regular, just like it should be. Boy, that sure does take a load off. As much as I tried not to think about it, there is always the fear that between appointments, something would have gone wrong.

The sound was beautiful, the unmistakable "swish-swish" Baby is now 2 inches long, as big as a lime :) S/he is now poking above my pelvis and starting to displace my other organs, so I am getting a bit of a belly now :)

All seems to be going well. Just two months until the really cool ultrasound. I just hope the baby keeps their back turned to me lol

For while expectin you prob read this one "to Expect When You're Expecting"
the follow up "What to Expect the First Years"
and the next follow up "What to Expect The Toddler Years"

The first years has great month by month and mile stone markers for newbie mommies to basically gauge your babies progress. Great recipies you baby as your baby grows etc!
