Damn! I missed that one.

Yabut, ya just sniped another I was bidding on...

Could you get yerself a new size head? :)

Joking of course. The lack of lining made me hope someone would step in.
I am hoping you don't really need another Open Road...?

Heheheheheh! How often is it that you find a Lee Adventure in such a size? The Adventure is one I have a hard time saying no to. :p
For those who do not know what auction we are speaking of, here is the ad for the Lee Adventure circa 1952:

You can have all the Open Roads you want. I am not all that hot on the style but I suppose I coud reblock it. ;) Is it blue? I could always use a new blue or a pearl gray. :p
Yes, I am ALWAYS on the lookout for another unique looking hat or one that I do not have an example of. With my head size, they come around very seldomly. Sometimes I can make them fit though. ;)

That is a neat hat. I hope you'll report on actual condition when you get it.
And that Open Road I mentioned? Blue? Why, no Sir! It is Wildroot "wine!"
:cheers1:

Feltfan,

Yep, saw that one, too. But I've got a really light gray Borsalino, so I figured I don't need another one in the same color.

As if we 7 3/8 guys don't have enough trouble finding nice vintage hats our size, now this 7 5/8 JP guy comes waltzing in to the fray. I just think he doesn't want to share!;)

No pity for the 3/8 man

I'm a 5/8 guy so I have more to worry about with Powers.
And to make matters worse, he lives near me, so local
sources are threatened, too.

I have a couple of 3/8 hats (unusual Mallory and misrepresented
Cavanagh). Even though I can wear some 1/2 w/out stretching, it's tough to
get a 3/8 to fit my head. I don't think you have a lot to worry
about from us 5/8 guys.

Anyway there are so many more 3/8 hats than there are 5/8... sigh.

Bwahhahahahhahahahah! You don't have to worry about cheap local sources. They are all depleted anyway. :p
Hmmm...7 3/8 more common. Funny, whenever I get a 7 3/8 it becomes a 7 5/8 overnight. Must be the hat fairy. :p In fact the 1930s Stetson I am wearing today is a 7 1/4. Fits good. ;) Nice and fuzzy.
Share? What does that word mean? :drum: :p

And muscling into we 7 1/2 guys possibilities... Also not easy to find. The Open Road I spotted in 7.5 is already headed for triple digits.

7 1/2, 7 5/8 it only makes about a half inch of difference. The hat fairy makes them fit really nice too. I can live with an extra long oval 7 1/2 though without doing a thing to it. Just depends on the manufacturer. Mallory is a very good manufacturer for generous sizes. They kept their blocks wet through the whole process so the sizes are fairly consistent.
Triple digits. Actually sounds about right. Try finding a tophat in 7 5/8. Now there is where you can expect to pay through the nose---and a 7 1/2 doesn't cut it for a stiff hat like the bowler and tophat. It has to be a 7 5/8 or nothing. ;)

Regards to all,

J
