"Oi Paddy!!! what have you done with my yachting crusher? "

"Now-now Errol, don't be spoiling for a fight again me ol' Wallabee!! You'll get it back in a minute!!!"

I adore the image of the vintage sailor on the high seas, one hand on the tiller, the other on the Port bottle! But for me, the iconic image is that of the yachting crusher perched at a jaunty angle on the head of an old salt!

Looks as sharp in the club with a navy DB jacket, as it does with a 5-o'clock-shadow and rainsoaked oilskin battling with the high seas!!

Who else out there loves the auld nautical crusher on the noggin? and have you any photos of you sporting 'the look?'

Here's my attempt!!

(PS: This one is now in Classifieds, as I have two and only need one[huh] ).

That's a snazzy piece of headwear, Paddy! My dad used to wear something similar and I have fond memories of trying on his cap as a kid (way too big for me then of course.). I wish I knew what happened to that one after he passed away. He never had anything bigger then a rowboat to "sail", but that never stopped him from looking stylish in it. :)

Ah, these pictures –I can almost feel the sea spray and hear the sound of the whirling gulls! You and Errol are such handsome sea dogs!

PS Love your shoes--quite spiffy!

Now that is a nice cap. I've been looking for something like the one worn by Captain Englehorn in King Kong. It looks simila to the Kreigsmarine U-Boat cap except without the scrambled eggs and insignia. They're rather hard to find though in this plain configuration without the golssy bill. Something similar to the USAAF crusher but with a white canvas top. The oil cloth pea coat would be a great addition to the nautical appearance.

I've always liked that look as well, and have been eyeing this one from Quaker Marine for some time. It has the plain white cotton top, but the bill is also cotton instead of leather.

I prefer the khaki version that they used to carry, but this one is very sharp. I think it'd look great with the DB blazer, like Paddy has on above.

You look fantastic Paddy. I like this look very much but a bit difficult to pull off here in the city. I can only muster up the bitter old seaman

I do have some very nice naval caps though:)

Douglas, that looks great! Where did you ever find that Prinz Heinrich? I've been trying to find one for ages and have come up snake eyes on that hunt. The only one I've see on line is a very nasty looking used one on e-bay.

Cheers!

Hells, yes, I love those. DanielJohns, if you find those anywhere, do please let me know, I've been looking for that style too. My default casual hat is in that style, but all over in the one colour corduroy. - I've been wearing them since 1994 (I have a brown one, currently on my third in black, and intending to purchase a navy one soon too). I like those two-tone ones a lot, I'd buy them if I could find a source in my size. The tan one looks especially good - puts me in mind very much of Brando in The Wild One (though if memory serves, his was puffier in the top). Good hats. Looks surprisingly good with the blazer, actually.... great alternative to a wide brimmed hat on an overly windy day, too!

Hey DJ, I found that on ebay a while ago. It is a great comfortable cap. It being my size is a bonus.
