Idle curiosity: does anyone have pics of a navy coloured fedora? I've seen them selling before, but don't recall seeing anyone in one.... Wonder how one would look with a blue pinstripe suit.

This hat is actually black, charcoal black, but it photographed navy blue so maybe it might be helpful. Best I can do.

Sorry I don't have pictures but I do have a navy hat and I like it almost as much as my Tropicaire from Art. I get a lot of positive comments from wearing it. I wore it Monday. It is a Borsalino I got from Bencraft Hatters. :)

The Art Fawcett looks great!

Douglas... I'd never have thought to put a brown band on a blue hat, but that makes it tone in fantastically well with the rest of your apparell - good call. :)

Suede Custom and Velour Custom Beaver Brand Hats in Navy

Suede Custom and Velour Custom Beaver Brand Hats in Navy. Incidently Navy is only one of three colors available on these two hats, and it does well.

I have two navy fedoras. The first is is from Lock & Co. Hatters, St James Street, London (Made in England, genuine fur felt hat with leather band, Joule & Sons). They sell a comparable hat, today, for L160 (over $300). I found it for $15, at a thrift store, in Georgia. It just needed a light cleaning and a reshape.

The second is unmarked fur (As I recall, the tag said, "Made in Eastern Europe.") which was $15 new (marked down), at a department store in Corpus Christi, Texas, about eight years ago. I replaced the ribbon with a wide, Dark gray grossgrain, and replaced the cloth sweatband with leather.

Guess which one is the better hat.

:eek:fftopic: JT Marcus I love the light blue striped shirt with solid black tie. I myself use it alot... very modern french cosmoplitain "haut monde". I would pair it with a navy 2 button, low gorge, ticket pocket, vertical kiton styled peak lapel in a 1 /8 inch london bankers stripe.....would look great with a navy fedora.

Navy fedoras were quit common in the late 30's early to mid 40's.

Those are some darn fine-looking hats!

Edward,

Here's a navy fedora with a charcoal-grey suit. I dug it out to snap a photo of it for ya! :D

It's a Champ Kasmir Finish. A very nice hat (and it has a wind trolley! ;) )

I've got a navy homburg as well. One of these (don't recall which one) looked a very bright blue in the ebay photo. I was pleasantly surprised at the deep navy color. On the other hand, I bought another homburg that looked the same hoping for the same results, and it turned out to be royal blue, just as shown! [huh] lol

Cheers,
Tom

Tango Yankee, I just saw your other two in "What Hat Are You Wearing Today?" I've got to say, of the three, this is my favorite! By the way, this is your brim size. Don't throw the stingy brims away, but take advantage of this width, often.

Much appreciated, thanks! :) I'm definitely liking the idea of a navy fedora more and more. I'm loving the Art Fawcett in midnight blue that one of the FL members whose name just escapes me right at the minute has just received... Indeed, maybe a navy and a midnight blue could both find a home in my wardrobe.... :)

You're welcome, Edward! I do like these dark blue hats for some reason. And yes, Douglas, it's a 7 1/4! :D

J.T., I agree on the brim size; I prefer it to the stingy brims, but not to worry... I do like a bit of variety in my life so I'll be keeping them. Too, it seems that the straws in different colors tend to be the stingies.

Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen!

Cheers,
Tom

P.S. I just came across another self-portrait, hand-held camera style, taken back in April in a lighter grey coat:
